I worked at Wolfgang Puck Catering

    Pros

I feel that overall Wolfgang Puck Catering is a good company to work for. Good people, Good environment, decent support.

    Cons

I felt that they paid fairly poorly and way below the average comapred to other similar companies. Lack of training, I was just throw in and expected to do everything the way they wanted it....but I think some of that was related just to my specific manager.

    Pros

making 20 per hr is nice

    Cons

managers who don't care about the brutal working conditions. some shifts include taking heavy platters of food up and down 5 flights of stairs for 7 hours straight. they will literally work you to the bone and often times are too busy to give breaks to the employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

grow some respect for other human beings.

I have been working at Wolfgang Puck Catering full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good benefits through its parent company Compass group, free lunch, and most of the people in management are great to work with. For those moving up in the culinary field, this is a good opportunity to get a good name on your resume, and after a year, you can move laterally within the parent company (Compass Group) for a better opportunity.

    Cons

They hire a lot of kids out of culinary school, and foreign workers. Its a pass through for many of the culinary students, so they are able to keep labor pretty low. Hours can be very inconsistent, its the nature of the business. They hire a lot of people in the fall, and everyone gets a ton of hours, and then after New Years, boom, you go from 70 hours a week to 15 hours. Something they fail to mention in their interview. As business improves late in the year, they are quick to hire cheap labor, and slow to increase the hours of those who have been waiting for the business to come back.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat those in the ranks who show up day to day with a little more respect, and be more aware of their needs.
