I worked at Wonderlic full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The Wonderlic is the gold standard of short duration cognitive ability tests. Good work life balance. Nice people. Managers and top brass are available and responsive.

    Cons

Below average starting pay. Sink or swim mentality. Some departmental silos. Political undercurrents in the upper ranks. Much of what you learn and do at Wonderlic probably won't transfer to future jobs elsewhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When change is necessary it is important to change; when change is not necessary it is just as important to not change.

Great resume builder, but would not advise making a career here

I worked at Wonderlic full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Wonderlic gives its employees the opportunity to grow skills in nearly every area of business if you're so inclined. Being such a small company forces you to wear many hats, which is a great thing for learning new skills and understanding all aspects of business and even technology, but can quickly become stressful and tiring.

The work environment is casual and friendly

    Cons

Wonderlic leadership will squeeze every ounce of productivity and innovation they can out of their employees, with little to no advancement, promotion, or salary increase potential. Some people seemingly have no idea what they are doing in their role, but have been placed in that position due to who they are friendly with. Wonderlic very clearly is a 'good ol boys' club, with little to no opportunity to advance into leadership positions if you are a woman.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to be better about identifying and mentoring the talent in your organization. Not everyone is a superstar, but many superstars have passed in and back out the doors of Wonderlic due to a general lack of appreciation and professional development. Wonderlic could stand to practice what it preaches in terms of not only Recruitment philosophy, but also Retention.

I worked at Wonderlic full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Fun and laid back. People are nice and they do alot of parties and team building events.

    Cons

Salaries are unfair and unrealistic. Not willing to pay to keep you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Since you take such caution in hiring people with all the testing and interviewing, it would be nice that you thought it important to pay the people what they are worth and want to keep your investment.

    Cons

Not a good training ground for entry level sales. Better suited for more experienced individuals.

    I worked at Wonderlic

    Pros

Quality product, excellent brand recognition, decent work-life balance

    Cons

Serious glass ceiling for women; pay is based on what you will settle for, not what you are worth

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit with the 'good ole boys' club in senior management, increase diversity, give recognition to achievers, position-based pay system

  10. Frustrating - big plans, poor execution.

I have been working at Wonderlic

    Pros

Nice people. Quality product. Excellent reputation.

    Cons

Imported management team is unfamiliar with the business. Poor leadership, old-style "silo" organizations and micro-management. Owner moved out of town and is detached from daily operations. Lack of product innovation has resulted in little to no growth in the business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the Sales organization. They are the voice of your clients.

    Cons

Great place if you are a 30 year old white male. Not so much if you aren't.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
