    Good Temp Company

Temp Worker (Former Employee) Nashville, TN

ProsThey do a good job helping find temporary work, in a short amount of time.

ConsYou can't be choosey about what job they find for you. In the end, it is just a temp job.

WPS is a wonderful place to work and to find a job.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Nashville, TN

ProsWood Personnel Services has been in business for 23 years. They do things right and professional. When business was tough in 2009, the leadership worked to ensure the entire staff was advised of the difficulties and challenges of making a profit. Changes were made and everything that was recinded came back to 100% to the employees in less than 14 months. I get more PDO days off than people in the banking industry. They are a good company with caring people. If you need a job in Nashville, this is the place to try first!

ConsWPS is a small company and they like it that way so to concentrate on their clients and their needs. If you don't like being on a small team, this may not be the place for you.

    Best job I've ever had.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Nashville, TN

ProsStaff really cares about each other, candidates, and clients. Benefits are really good. Leadership did a fantastic job steering the company during the recent downturn in hiring in 2009. Impressive!

ConsNot enough healthy snacks provided by the company. More fruit, fewer donuts.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed not worry about pleasing everyone -- make a tough decision and move on. When you're worried about pleasing everyone you wind up pleasing no one.

It was a struggle to make it through the day.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Nashville, TN

Pros- You get a chance to help people find work who were jobless or find better jobs than they previously had.
    - Management is pretty understanding about taking time off.

Cons- Very small company with little room for growth.
    - Compensation and benefits were not up to par with similar positions in other companies.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your employees and respect their ideas even if you will never use them or agree with them. Get over the fact that your way may not be the best way.

Good company to work for overall, but very hectic/stressful working environment on most days.

    Recruiter (Current Employee)

ProsOwner of company is very generous with vacation days, is kind hearted, personable, and friendly. Treats employees fairly and willing to listen if approached. Truly seems to care about personal lives of employees and makes a point to remember details about your life. Good benefits/insurance package. Promotes from within (if possible). Low turnover in corporate office/upper management. Great company to gain entry level HR knowledge. Very professional with clients and candidates alike. Stresses the importance of building strong, lasting relationships. Exceeds expectations of clients and candidates. Flexible with client demands. Excellent customer service compared to other staffing companies in area. Treats everyone with respect.

ConsSmall company with few growth opportunities after a certain point. Very stressful environment when it comes to filling job orders, keeping existing clients happy at all times, and taking on new clients. Workload is typically way too high for one person and is usually not distributed evenly among employees. Constant reminders of weekly numbers and trying to maintain company goals can be too much pressure. At times it can feel the weight of the company is solely on you. Offices are not consistent with a common format of completing processes, can be chaotic at times and frustrating keeping up with the constant changes. Typically not recognized/compensated unless upper management is approached. Poor communication between corporate and staffing offices. No yearly reviews.

Advice to Senior ManagementOpenly ask for suggestions from internal staff and truly consider feedback, conduct performance reviews and evaluate pay increases on a regular basis, recognize stress of employees and try to minimize, regular training classes to keep up to date on new/changing processes to streamline all offices to one way of conducting business.
