    Pros

Good, forward thinking company. Management is responsive to issues. Company always ranks success as the top priority.

    Cons

Workload is not managed well. There are always multiple problems to deal with at any time, with very little emphasis placed on prioritizing the queue. The loudest advocate for an issue always gets their way first.

    Advice to Management

Work on better issue prioritization. Realize that not doing so takes a toll on the moral of the team. Working hard rarely gets you ahead.

    Pros

Mostly a very friendly environment. Casual dress code. Many small perks like free fruit, once a month pizza lunch, and nice company outings.

    Cons

Lack of processes, and what processes there are get changed frequently and without warning. Many things are documented, but you either can't find them on the servers, or they are not updated.

    Pros

Work-Life balance is good Offices are well kept, free coffee and snacks PTO is generous Benefits and Salaries are competitive CEO is very candid

    Cons

A 500 person software company where out-of-the-box entrepreneurial thinking will get you banished. People are skilled and do their jobs, but there is no passion and excitement. Peeling a banana requires you to follow a 20 step process. Management doesn't like the clients or the employees and most of them don't like each other either. Billing hours trumps customer service. Much of the management came from large, clunky, process heavy, tired old has-been software companies and they are trying to turn WFS into one of those because they don't know any better.

    Advice to Management

Fire half the management and train the other half.

    Pros

Great People and work environment. The work is challenging and rewarding.

    Cons

There was no control over your travel schedule. You could be asked to travel on a moments notice.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work but be mindful of peoples work life balance.

    Pros

Salaries are very respectable for the Detroit area. People here are all generally very friendly, helpful, and nice, even if some are more technically competent than others. Management does seem to legitimately care about it's employees, which is really nice to have in this day and age.

    Cons

Don't expect to compare your compensation to your silicon valley friends. Internal processes are still somewhat undefined. Every other department takes a backseat to sales and product development. Even with the company at it's current size of roughly 500 employees it's still not a place that seems to have career paths. Promotions appear random and haphazard. Company-wide initiatives often don't take into account what our customers actually do with our software.

    Advice to Management

Continue work on internal processes. Provide a career path for your employees!

    Pros

Great application, works well, all code sourced in house. Fairly decent benefits and wages. Occasional ability to work internationally as they have a global presence. Casual atmosphere and nice snacks in the break room.

    Cons

Middle management are mostly glorified consultants promoted based on their time with the company. They don't have any real management skills or know how to motivate their team through constructive feedback. Many are micro-managers who are quick to point out your flaws, but never able to provide positive feedback. On the whole, the company doesn't know how to embrace remote employees. Corporate functions and events are for local staff only; find your own way here if you want to attend. Sales missed their numbers last year and there were lay-offs at the beginning of this year. The quarterly bonus based on your billable hours was replaced by a subjective measurement provided annually. Formal reviews are non-existent. No career path/progression. Many senior consultants have their own personal agendas and it's not to help the less senior staff.

    Advice to Management

    Like they'd listen...

    Pros

The people that work for Workforce Software are great. The CEO, CFO & Sales Leadership are the worse.

    Cons

They didn't pay me on a large mulit-million dollar contract that amounted to $45,000. The company will receive over $2.5M in 3 years while I was paid $0 for it. It was a good deal too as the CEO even said this was an extremely high margin deal. They decided to not pay me because they were mad that I resigned.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees as they close deals for you.

    Pros

There are none. Most PM's hired since I was there have been released. Since company sold, future uncertain.

    Cons

High turn over, not appreciated for your knowledge or skills

    Advice to Management

Now that you have sold it, walk away.

    Pros

Worklife balance is achievable sort of.

    Cons

Management is unprofessional. They come in and leave when they want. They provide no feedback on a regular basis. Your review for a raise might come 6 months to a year after it is due. They will tell you all things they didn't like through the year but not have examples that are relevant. No advancement.

    Pros

Very focused, professional, down-to-earth, and mostly political-free people and work environment. Tons of great perks, including free trips to Cedar Point, holiday parties, free healthy snacks, discounts on gym memberships, etc.

    Cons

The industry is not the most exciting.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, and continue to keep your ear out for ideas.
