    Pros

    Good perks, work-life balance

    Cons

Union environment - blocks change. Advancement is by seniority not merit. Union protects bad apples.

    Advice to Management

Offer parachutes to technically-fearful employees with seniority, and bring change-friendly employees into the union.

    Pros

Opportunities to make a real difference in the safety culture of workplaces. Very diverse workforce, like-minded people with similar objectives.

    Cons

Regardless of the individual intent, this is a large bureaucracy that can be very politically driven. The 'optics' are always a major driver of policy.

    Advice to Management

Take advantage of the broad range of talent and experience available. Putting experienced and motivated people in a box bounded by inflexible policies is a sure way to demotivate and lose good people.

    Pros

I enjoy working with a great group of guys that care and want to help clients out. The Benefits & Pay are also awesome.

    Cons

There is no indication that they are willing to improve employee morale. We are short staffed and overworked. Bad environment to work in. There is no long term growth in department.

    Advice to Management

Management has no clue that employee morale is low. If you want employees to be happy, invest in them.

    Pros

Everyone at WorkSafeBC is professional and pleasant to work with. Good pay, excellent benefits, and great time-off policies (vacation days, extra earned days off, and paid leave opportunities). Richmond location has great cafeteria, and gym with team sports and yoga classes. The organization really cares about the health and well-being of not only their employees, but workers everywhere. A great place to work!

    Cons

Many long-term temporary positions rather than permanent postings. Opportunities for advancement into permanent positions were somewhat limited. May depend on personal preferences of management rather than qualifications.

    Pros

Good salary, great benefits, noble work. Very high quality people to work with.

    Cons

It is tough to balance protection of privacy with fast paced technology.

    Advice to Management

Stay strong and carry on the work that the retiring CEO started for us

    Pros

Work-Life balance is important and the employer provides its staff with the opportunity.

    Cons

The constant changes in the workplace and movement make it hard to get any read on the direction of the company. Special projects are not well communicated to staff.

    Advice to Management

The constant demands of management detract from management of staff. This could be seen positively by some who don't like being micromanaged but lean too far and you also fall off the table.
