Pros
friendly work environment, good pay for level of experience and housing and rental car provided, 14$/hr if 2 years college completed $1/hr added for each additional year completed
Cons
lompoc is not the most exciting place to live but at least the slow pace can be relaxing and its 45 min from sb
Pros
It is in California but Lompoc is not the California shown in tourist commercials. The minerals mined and the processes to get them to market are interesting.
The work force has a very strong work ethic and most individuals are very dedicated to making an under funded and under capitalized plant run.
Cons
A photo of the General Manager can be found in the dictionary under M for micro-management. Most long term employees are tied to the area with few options in other local industries and Celite is very aware of the situation and take full advantage of the work force. If you are willing to suffer through a career in order to stay in Lompoc or California, this is the employer for you.
Advice to Senior Management
Give a world class company controlling interest, become a minority partner, step aside and see how it can be done successfully while raising the moral of the entire employee population.
Pros
Plenty of opportunity for persons willing to put in the hours.
Cons
Unless you are comfortable with "command and control", you may loose motivation.
