I worked at Worldwide Business Research full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked at WBR for 4 years. It was one of the most rewarding positions I've ever held.
    - Company culture - The company hires smart people, invests in training and is constantly trying to innovate.
Low turnover - In the four years I was there, only 1 person quit. No one leaves because it is a great place to work.
    - High earnings potential
    - Interesting products - Learn about many different industries and be connected to very senior level people
Good management - Management empowers employees to do their jobs and try new things. There is an open door policy so all levels have access to managers.

    Cons

    - Career mobility - because of the low turnover, promotions can be slow. However, people do get promoted (new job roles are created to keep good employees advancing).

    - Business Model - The conference and media industries are challenging. Companies are spending less on travel and training and the media landscape is very competitive.

    - Deadlines - The nature of the business is fast paced and managing deadlines can be stressful. I sometimes worked what I thought were long hours at the time 8:30-7.

Do NOT do business with this company.

I have been working at Worldwide Business Research

    Pros

They do a great job "preparing" for the event you're sponsoring.

    Cons

They are only working with you to take your money. Follow-up after an event is underwhelming, because they company has already received your funds, so why should they care about assisting you after an event?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Businesses do business with your company to generate revenue. If you don't help with follow-up, you're failing your clients. Extremely disappointed.

    Pros

Fantastic and fun company to work for. People are intelligent and unlike other conference companies, management doesn't micro manage

    Cons

As with the nature of the industry, hard for serious long term growth potential...

    Pros

You learn something new every day and want to continually get better. Great reward structure that self-motivates employees and great work environment. Great travel opportunities.

    Cons

Can be very high pressure and not a typical 9-5 job, which is a pro and a con.

I have been working at Worldwide Business Research

    Pros

I have travelled extensively throughout Asia since joining
Managment are focused on developing me and my skills
The events we produce and sell are world class
The ability to make a lot of money is one of the highest in the industry
Its a rewarding and creative place to work
Everyone in the team supports each other and there is a great comradely

    Cons

At times the deadlines can be stressful if not managed proactively
Targets are high but rewards for hitting them are too

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to listen to your staff and develop them. We are the backbone of the company and its difficult at times to continually grow the business, especially in tough economic times. So please continue to invest in our training and motivation as it is working.

I worked at Worldwide Business Research

    Pros

Learn a lot about the conference industry and putting together full-scale events. Great, mostly intelligent colleagues, solid training and team building. Generally positive work environment.

    Cons

Not much work-life balance, can be like high school at times with the cliques, must brown nose to move up (but then again that's everywhere you go unless management actually pulls off their blinders), could get political and thus "unprofessional" at times.

I have been working at Worldwide Business Research

    Pros

Ethos of excellence. Delivering beyond our customer expectations.
Loyalty, hard work and talent rewarded.
Best practice that really works and delivers results.
Very successful large scale conferences in Europe and Asia established over the last 14 years mean low risk launch strategies in Asia as the economy out performes the more established markets.

    Cons

Asia office still in start up mode so not yet perfect operationally.
    Lightweight medical cover.
If not prepared to take up the structures and best practise methods you will not last long.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep following the business plan, diversify into more industry sectors, keep true to quality research content which set WBR apart.
