Pros
Truly a place of great people with great passion to succeed. I enjoyed the interview process, the involvment of everyone in that process from the top down. Quite impressive.
Cons
Can't think of a con. Perhaps their expectations are fairly stringent yet those expectations are achievable. The sales managers are pulled in many directions
Advice to Senior Management
Keep on tweeking!
Pros
Good, competitive products/services. Good company vision. Pretty good benefits and co 'perks'. Co car, corp card, matching 401k, flex spending, reward cards, awards
Cons
Sales Mgmt (at all levels) irrational and unsupportive. Most 'lead' through threats, negative reinforcement and ridiculous micromanagement. Highly inflexible to change and poor communication skills. Set unachievable goals and expectations. (VERY small % achieve them)
Advice to Senior Management
Hire some unbiased, experienced, well trained outsiders who can actually 'help' grow sales, improve morale, communication and internal procedures. Focus more on experience and proven success as opposed to always promoting from within ~ those who fit the 'existing club' mentality. Mgmt w/ positive, rational temperments and open communiation style ~ should have a trickle down effect. It all starts at the top!
Pros
Well respected
Wellness Program
Open door policies
exciting and new innovative ideas
Stable business
Solid revenue
Enjoy my job
Great People
Cons
Not a clear strategic plan - seems to change constantly
Need to diversify business model - out dated
Multiple processing platforms that are not always easily compatible
Reorganizations seem to happen too often - more planning needed to lessen impacts
Downstream communication is not always present
Advice to Senior Management
Improve coomnication plan
Pros
Company as a whole is moving in the right direction with very strong senior leadership.
Cons
Micro-managed. Reviews weekly-monthly. Pressure cooker environment where the customers are sensing aggression not value or partnership.
The sales teams are being treated as no-talent children and pushed in the wrong direction, ultimately leading them to the door. The lack of experience and common sense approach will leave the managers spending most of their time filling positions with rookies like their competition.
Advice to Senior Management
Revert back to the days where you were judged by your year end results not daily, weekly and monthly! Too much time is being diverted on "to do" lists by managers so they have something "to do" resulting in poor performance across the board.
Pros
Some good, talented people, appropriate focus on financial and fiscal responsibility. Company is growing and has excellent CFO and financial leadership. Leadership is passionate about staying in Maine and continuing to employ people in Maine. CEO places a high value on associates, and communicates regularly to them.
Cons
Company is run like a small owner-operated business, whims of executives become strategic initiatives, distracting from real opportunities. Sedentary culture, lifers running most departments and teams. Because of this, it is a very political place with favoritism rampant. Benefits are below average, pay is 20-30% below market.
Advice to Senior Management
Pick 1-2 initiatives and focus. Stop pretending to innovate and just do some things well.
Pros
fast growing company, lots of opportunity for advancement, company cares about employees and community,
Cons
depending on department lead, cna stagnate for a while but not in the whole company, benefits are just so-so, hr dept not trustworthy.
Advice to Senior Management
make hr more discreet, focus more on core business
