Pros
Good benefits, Work life balance
Cons
The usual downsides of working at any big company
Pros
Generous benefits; gum and mints sell well in most markets.
Cons
Wrigley associates are scambling to proof value to the new parent company- causing some competitive back-biting in the business units.
Advice to Senior Management
Maintain transparency and care for your loyal associates.
Pros
Solid company, solid job & benefits. Good people. Well recognized company & products. Autonomy.
Cons
Becoming more like Mars. May lose its distinctiveness.
Pros
It's hard to beat the opportunity to work with candy and gum brands. They have a solid category management and consumer insights organization, which help keep it on the forefront of the industry.
Cons
It's very easy to get stuck in a silo in either Sales, Customer Marketing, or Brand Marketing. Very difficult to make the move from Sales to Brand Marketing and/or Customer Marketing to Brand. Brand Marketers typically only recruited from Michigan, Northwestern, Chicago GSB, and Indiana. A large number of these MBA recruits are in-out very quickly and management seems very disinterested in filling these roles from the internal talent pool, which is very frustrating given the experience and education of a number of internal employees.
The sales organization is run by old, salty account managers that are (for the most part) difficult to work for and with. The general feel is that they are worried about losing their jobs to younger, more educated managers so the exchange of information and experience often gets muddled in an attempt to preserve themselves.
Chicago isn't a bad place to live and work, but I don't think I'd recommend Wrigley as a great place to work, particularly given the other options in the area (i.e. Pepsi, Kraft, etc.).
Overall the leadership by the executive team is rather disappointing, as the communication of the strategic vision isn't always very clear.
Pros
Regular performance reviews
Great benefit package
Career growth
Casual business dress and jeans policy
Cons
Senior management not always forthcoming
Access to ELT someone limited
Not much diversity on senior management team
Advice to Senior Management
More town halls, diversity in upper management - more women and ethnic representation
Pros
Good pay for the area. Good benefits. Good fellow workers. Wrigley has declined over the past years as place to work due to bad upper management.
Cons
Wrigley downsized and they let go all the experienced older workers. Management is no longer respected or trusted, nor are they capable to do the job.
Advice to Senior Management
Lead from the front not from the rear. Do not hide in your windowless office buried in a maze of concrete walls.
Pros
* Flexible
* Good work/life balance
* Fair
* Open communication
* Passionate about employees
* Career advancement
* Involved in the community
Cons
* Large company with several layers of review
* Decision making can be slow
* Can be risk adverse
* In transition since Mars merger
Pros
The sales support they offer and the training is excellent. Their benefits are very generous: Company car, fleet card, home office, expenses reimbursed. They are very organized and efficient.
Cons
You learn a lot from management team, however, if there was an issue with a manager, the whole could see and feel the manager's indifference . The manager would make comments about the person to the team, which created a division in the team. Very unprofessional and difficult to maintain a team environment.
Pros
Great place to work, friendly environment, great teamwork and provide the atmosphere of sharing.
Change is always welcomed in Wrigley
As long as you are the talent, doesn't matter which position you started with, company provides the great learning opportunity for different levels of employees
Cons
Can't find any issues of the management sides.
Advice to Senior Management
Selling Wrigley to Mars is not a wise decision, hopefully Wrigley can be private owned again.
Pros
I was able to start from the bottom and move to the top in a short time frame
Benefits
Internal Chiropractor on site for $5. That was a great perk! You had an entire 30 min sessiona and it was encouraged to get one often.
Location
Professional Development (If manager supports your growth)
work from home day(s) for eligible associates
bonuses
company credit card
100% tuition reimbursement (although i never used it)
Stocks
Mentorship is smiled upon
Cons
Some bad leadership exists
Some HR employees were really bad at the time, Although most were very pleasant
Hard to move up in salary, lateral moves are more encouraged.
Advice to Senior Management
Send Managers and Team leads to training as well so that they learn how to be better leaders. This will minimize micromanagement and improve the relationship between teams. When teams are happy, they produce better results. This is especially important since Wrigley has the HONOR system
