I worked at Wunderman (New York) full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I was exposed to some of the most influential professionals in my career. Through enthusiasm and generosity my understanding of what is possible when people connect multiplied.

    Cons

A corporate salary cap and hiring freeze was sad. I did not like feeling I had a whole lot of tenure with two years on the job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to blend the silos. Any org. as large as Wunderman or Wundermans clients cannot redefine process in a year or even years, but as long as the processes are open to refinement and optimization, it's all good.

I have been working at Wunderman (New York)

    Pros

Great coworkers and clients. Much of the work is on a national or global scale.

    Cons

Management and vision. Integration and support from sister agencies is disappointing.

I have been working at Wunderman (New York) part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Seriously, and truly, everyone that works here are so genuinely nice, it is shocking. The CDs/ACDs are great mentors, the juniors are talented and eager juniors, and the management team sincerely seems to care on a human level.

    Cons

The advertising is a little straight forward and boring. But if you just want to work in advertising, have a great work/life balance, great hours, and amazing, friendly people, this is the place.

I worked at Wunderman (New York) full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

ground level people have a "can do" and "we're in it together" attitude. plenty of opportunity for go-getters to succeed...

    Cons

...success is not met with reward for hard work.
-poor people management and high turnover due to politics and frustration arising from that.
    -zero understanding of organization structure
-promotions are slow, if at all

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Wunderman (New York) full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Casual atmosphere. Centrally located offices.

    Cons

No raises - there were talented staff who had gone several years without a raise and left because of it. Support staff were utterly disrespected and it was not uncommon to have an assistant responsible for supporting a dozen people without even being told who they were supporting. Focus is more on meetings than actually getting anything done. There were meetings to plan meetings and meetings to discuss the last meeting - it would be funny if it weren't true. Pay is very low and only those interested in not doing much seem to last. I left after less than a year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat support staff with some respect and COMMUNICATE with subordinates about expectations.

I worked at Wunderman (New York)

    Pros

Working in a team setting is fun and everyone works hard together in that team to accomplish the goal set.

    Cons

Slow and far and few career advancement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize talent and hard working personnel within departments for advancement before seeking outside candidates. HR should reach out to department heads.

An agency that has lost its way

I worked at Wunderman (New York) full-time

    Pros

Nice location. Some very talented people with a few good brands to work on.

    Cons

Politics abound -- the network isn't sure what it wants to be. So many acquisitions and brands with separate P&Ls have left the NY office with little to justify its existence. Complete lack of management continuity.
