Pros
The people and the company
Cons
Some employees are totally incompetent
Advice to Senior Management
You should not have giving in to Pfizer
Pros
The People were what made me stay! Great teamwork and sharing of ideas. My immediate boss was terrific. Very supportive in both work and life challenges.
Cons
Respect of workers by senior management was not shown. Not even thank you or acknowledgement of completion of major milestones. Respect for People as one of the values was not shown in actions of management. There seemed to be more concern for shareholders and profit margins than for the real reason we are in business - making people's lives better.
Advice to Senior Management
Think more about the people than the profit margin. Acknowledge hard work to meet major accomplishments. Thank you's would be appreciated. New Pfizer management should pay attention to the workers and the work load.
Pros
Excellent Talent at all levels
Cons
Bought by American Home Products
Advice to Senior Management
Don't let the culture ruin the company
Pros
Some of the people to work with are cool. Time goes by very quick. Get 1 week off for x-mas. hours of work ok
Cons
Raises, benefits are lousy now Pfizer takeover. Heard they are asking for copay on prescriptions which is no different than any other Biopharma company. It used to be nothing under Pfizer so we suck it up again.
Advice to Senior Management
Get a grip stop laying people off. Too much work not enough time little pay. You can't squeeze much more out of the people
Pros
Up to date instruments & equipment
Friendly work environment
Fair compensation & benefits
Great products at company store
Cons
Poor management
Lack of growth opportunities
Poor career advancement progression
No opportunity for cross functional learning or internal job transfering
Advice to Senior Management
Invest more into career development and progression for employees. Institute an bi-annual review of direct managers and supervisors from employees.
Pros
You could make a difference if you took the initiative to get involved. The people you worked with were one of the best parts of the experience. Most colleagues were helpful and wanted to do the right thing.
Cons
Some senior management were mostly out to improve their position and didn't have the courage or go out of their way to pro-actively help the masses advance unless there was something directly beneficial to their career. If you could help them you could advance. I had one experience where I was the person thrown under the bus for a situation perceived to have gone wrong in the eyes of the sales teams. My senior management served me up as the sacrificial lamb and didn't offer any support. I had the satisfaction of seeing this person get sacked before I left the company. This was a case where he reaped what he sowed and justice was served.
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of incompetent senior management.
Pros
Throughout research there was a wonderful collaborative atmosphere. Opportunities for career advancement were based on work experience as well as education. Was able to advance by taking on assignments and activities normally assigned to individuals at the next higher level.
Cons
Moral suffered when product registrations met set backs. Research was sometimes let down by decsions made by buisness functions, typical for big pharma.
Advice to Senior Management
Managers in research were generally supportive of their reports. Bernard Poussot was instrumental in selling out what was a fantastic organization.
Pros
Wyeth pays a decent family wage when you get to be a Specialty rep or Account Manager. The non contributory pension was a plus and its what kept many people around but now that Pfizer took over and all new employees do not get that perk.
Cons
There are tons of politics and sometimes people who deserve to be promoted dont and others get forced out who shouldn't because they don't know the right people. Believe it!
Advice to Senior Management
Wyeth should have never merged with Pfizer. Wyeth was doing great without them. The result was that many good employees and their families were laid off after sweating blood to move the business forward and being loyal. All for the almighty dollar.
Pros
the health, medical and dental benefits
Cons
career tracks does not exist and mgmt is not consistent with helping all its employees to develop towards other positions.
Advice to Senior Management
get to know the employees directly and do not rely solely on managers' input.
Pros
Wyeth are category leaders in many of the categories they play in. Known as best in class, they offer many career opportunities.
Cons
The industry has always been volatile and one should expect many changes while working in this industry, it is a good idea to have agility.
Advice to Senior Management
You should work harder to improve your recruitment and selection process to make sure you obtain the best talent in the organization.
