Pros
No longer an option, due to acquisition by Pfizer.
Cons
General industry con... the downsizing will continue.
Advice to Senior Management
Put more emphasis on the patients and the employee's and less on your big salaries, bonuses, and golden parachutes, especially the value of your tenured people.
Pros
Co-workers were great. The atmosphere was one that fostered communication and collaboration between departments and employees. Consultants were treated just like employees.
Cons
Policies were left up to lower level management to interpret and enforce. Many times lower level managers would not allow employees to take advantage of work from home policies - though they would allow themselves to do so.
Advice to Senior Management
Many managers incompetent; should weed out the "dead wood". Be fair to employees with the company policies.
Totally against the sale to Pfizer. The Wyeth founders must be turning in their graves! What a shame.
Pros
Initial training is good.
Tolerant of transition from other careers.
Cons
Opportunity for advancement is limited
Employee development is limited past initial training.
Advice to Senior Management
Seek information from team members before making decisions.
Seek to retain employees through development, acknowledgement of work, and promotions.
Pros
Room for growth, loyalty, good benefits and compensation. Good work life environemnt. Various opportunities for advancement. Good training provided. Good products to work with.
Cons
Too many layers for communication. Top down management approach makes it difficult to get decisions through quickly. Sometimes behind the curve in taking the lead.
Advice to Senior Management
Stay true to your company. Your goal is to increase shareholder value but don't do it at the expense of employees.
Pros
It was a great company which is willing to invest in new technology. Great values in the company and truly believe in the the value of the patient
Cons
Wrong inventory policies, affecting other important operational metrics like productivity, effiecient and cycle time. Management afraid of taking right decisions.. excesive levels at management. Manager without reporting people.
Advice to Senior Management
Change the inventory policies that will improve significantly the efficient of the plant. Evaluate the levels of the organizations.. sometime has more bosses than front line employees.
Pros
Wyeth is a worldwide leader in the healthcare industry using their expertise in R&D to discover new treatments in disease states such as RA, bone graphing, cancer and Alzheimer’s. There was opportunity to advance in many different departments whether you were interested in sales, marketing, operations or managed care. The compensation was competitive in the marketplace with an excellent training program to ensure the employee is thoroughly prepared for the position.
Cons
Wyeth was a very large organization with around 45K employees in over 140 countries. Many of the processes and procedures to implement any type of program or initiative took a great deal of time before approval. The interfacing within departments was sometimes lacking which increased implementation timetables. Because of doing business in a highly regulated industry, there were numerous policies and procedures that were interpreted by Wyeth in the most conservative sense.
Advice to Senior Management
I would say that Wyeth should have been more aggressive in understanding the various complexities of the markeplace namely managed care, Medicare and Medicaid and applied more resources including personnel and funding to maximize the opportunities that were available. Also, figure out a way to reduce the number of home office meetings and increase productivity. In my experiences in the home office, there was a over abundance of meetings that in the end were not really productive.
Pros
A good company that offers a competitive salary and a good benefits package.
There are a lot of opportunities to learn and increase your skillset
Cons
There is competition between departments and peers when it comes to publishing and patenting
Promotions are not dictated in the most fair manner
Advice to Senior Management
As with any management, there is a slight disconnect between the management personnel and the employees. However, compared to other pharma and biotech companies I have been at, Wyeth management is much more fair
Pros
A good company with a bright future in vaccine development. Ahead of the curve in new technology and conversion to a paperless environment.
Cons
Upper management not in touch with what employees are working on. Relay of important information.
Advice to Senior Management
The need for management that offers transparency of important information to employees and not sugar coating everything.
Pros
liked the products and the people were nice to work with. It was a great job and I met a ton of nice peole and customers.
Cons
There was limited ability to grow your field sales career without relocation. There was a very high turnover of my direct management so I did not get consistant constructive feedback.
Advice to Senior Management
Good luck with the transition to Pfizer or where ever you land. It was a pleasure working with you. Thanks for the opportunity.
Pros
Reasonably good salary
Good benefits
Pleasant enough work environment
Adequate computer & office supplies
Pleasant campus with pretty nice amenities
Cons
Atrocious corporate intrigue at the mid-to-lower levels
Senior management totally out of touch with the people who actually do the work
Too many people coasting to retirement
Advice to Senior Management
The fat-cat style of management will drive all your good employees away. You have to be informed about a subordinate's skill set before you can judge whether or not they've done a good job.
