Pros
great co-workers. Could learn new technologies, good work/life balance, good pay and benefits.
Cons
incompetent management, many hidden agendas, egos, politics.
Advice to Senior Management
None since Pfizer gobbled them up.
Pros
There was a high quality of scientific research and development. Good communication with in the department and between sections that produced quality data.
Cons
We were a strong midsized company that attracted the attention of a struggling giant company who bought us and shut down most of our department.
Pros
Salary, location, commuting opportunities, work challenge
Cons
Senior management was incompetent, they did not communicate well on a normal day, let alone during the Pfizer buyout.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote people who actually deserve it and who are competent.
Pros
The People were what made me stay! Great teamwork and sharing of ideas. My immediate boss was terrific. Very supportive in both work and life challenges.
Cons
Respect of workers by senior management was not shown. Not even thank you or acknowledgement of completion of major milestones. Respect for People as one of the values was not shown in actions of management. There seemed to be more concern for shareholders and profit margins than for the real reason we are in business - making people's lives better.
Advice to Senior Management
Think more about the people than the profit margin. Acknowledge hard work to meet major accomplishments. Thank you's would be appreciated. New Pfizer management should pay attention to the workers and the work load.
Pros
Wyeth used to be a great place to work when they were located in Radnor, PA. Big company with a small company feel. Back then, you were recognized for your accomplishments and there were many growth opportunities. People in general really liked working for this company.
Cons
After they moved to Collegeville, everything changed. The culture became entirely different...very political and no longer mattered what you knew but who you knew. This was the "beginning of the end" for Wyeth in my opinion. Approximately 7 years later, they were bought by Pfizer.
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership at Wyeth failed in the later years and not surpisingly, they were taken over. With the right management and decision-making, there would still be Wyeth today
Pros
Challenging work in the Life Sciences areas. Very good salary and benefits. Professional decor and first class equipment provided. Overall, Wyeth was a good place to work.
Cons
With the purchase of Wyeth by Pfizer, it is clear that the company is being run from a financial perspective.
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership needs to return to the strategies and way of business that made Wyeth a world class successful global business.
Pros
Wyeth was a good place to work. The atmosphere was pleasant and the work interesting and challenging. Advancement was about average for a large company, especially if you were a good performer and went above the call of duty.
Cons
Since Pfizer has now acquired Wyeth, the atmosphere is filled with tensions. People don't know their status and even if they've been told they have a job, they later come to find out that they don't. Pfizer's pay scale is a bit better than Wyeth's but there are no annual bonuses for those below a very high level (Director and above). Newcomers may fair better than legacy Wyeth people as Pfizer's MO is to rid themselves of legacy people, especially anyone with more than 5 years. Layoffs are not well thought out and the company goes out of its way to avoid the mandatory 2 months WARN law.
Advice to Senior Management
Get your act together quickly so that those who have been retained are willing to stay. A lot of good people were let go and a lot of good people are looking to get out so that they don't face the rigors of being unemployed and deemed undesirable by other companies.
Pros
The Collegeville location is an excellent place to work. It has several amenities including a gym, credit union and cafeteria.
Cons
Since the Pfizer buyout, morale is low. Pfizer is making decisions that will probably raise the short term bottomline, but hurt the long term profitability of the Wyeth products.
Advice to Senior Management
Rethink the decisions about new leadership.
Pros
Good pay. Good vacation policy, stock options were nice as well. Company provided relocation was also very good. Challenging and rewarding work environment.
Cons
A lot of of overtime. Once at corporate, I felt a little more pigeonholed, and it was harded to get involved around the company.
Advice to Senior Management
It's probably too late now as the company is now owned by Pfizer. It was a fun ride, and they helped me out a ton with professional develoment.
Pros
Co-workers were great. The atmosphere was one that fostered communication and collaboration between departments and employees. Consultants were treated just like employees.
Cons
Policies were left up to lower level management to interpret and enforce. Many times lower level managers would not allow employees to take advantage of work from home policies - though they would allow themselves to do so.
Advice to Senior Management
Many managers incompetent; should weed out the "dead wood". Be fair to employees with the company policies.
Totally against the sale to Pfizer. The Wyeth founders must be turning in their graves! What a shame.
