Pros

direct management is some of the best in the business. managers help you achieve your goals, without putting alot of unnecessary paper work on you. great class of people

Cons

wyeth has undergone many layoffs in the last 5 years, which is frustrating, but not the only one in the industry.

Advice to Senior Management

give bigger incentives to your top performing reps.

Wyeth Director:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Lots of opportunity to grow professionally - management supports cross-functional projects and initiatives. Good products that span pharmaceuticals, biotech drugs, vaccines as well as consumer products and animal health. Competitive compensation - includes base salary, annual bonus, restricted shares, stock options, and good benefits. 3 weeks of vacation to start for all employees plus a week off for the Christmas and New Years holidays.

Cons

Some sites are siloed. Many decisions are centrally-driven from Corporate (Madison) and Pharmaceutical headquarters. Overly conservative approach to what is inherently a risky business (drug discovery, development and commercialization). Legal and Finance make a lot of the decisions - Wyeth used to be a holding company and heritage is hard to leave behind.

Advice to Senior Management

Be aggressive in thinking - listen to the line management (not only your legal and finance advisors).

Pros

The integrity of the management team is not easily found in this industry and the location lends itself to a comfortable lifestyle

Cons

because they are in the process of being acquired by a larger company, there will be a lot of changes going forward and some challenges to getting things done

Advice to Senior Management

Stay focused to close the deal and then stay connected with the employees who have helped you to be successful.

Wyeth Manage Regulatory Affairs in Collegeville, PA:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Wyeth is a great company to work for. They have an excellent training system, people are very helpful, and the compensation package is good and cometitive. The pipeline is decent and the company has had important recent approvals by majorboards of health.

Cons

Stress levels have been extremly high since project impact was announced in early 2008 and have only increased since the Pfizer merger was announced. People have been trying to keep focus on work but there are too many distractions right now. We all feel insecure about our jobs and those who manage survivethe merger will face additional uncertaint until all integrations activities are finished.

Advice to Senior Management

Please increase communication about the merger.

Pros

Good Employee benefits; Flexible work hours; Training available for personal growth; ability to transfer between departments; Encourage independence; reward good work Both as a pro and con, Wyeth offers classes for helping employees through transition to Pfizer

Cons

Metrics all important; Salaries seem to be below industry average; High pressure to get things done Stress levels very high among lab personnel and supervisors
Classes offered to help employees through transition to Pfizer but must complete a full days work in addition to the classes

Advice to Senior Management

Respect for employees during the transition to Pfizer by giving time to attend transition classes without having to put in a full days work in addition to the classes

Good and Bad

Pros

Good salary and benefits. Pockets of strength and quality leadership. Some very good people. Decent work/life balance. Nice facilities - I'm digging now!

Cons

Weak leadership. Lack of respect for employees. Not rewarding of employees taking calculated risks. Not effective at managing/making changes. Do not walk the talk in general. Limited investment in training/growing and developing people. Lots of politics and corporate BS.

Advice to Senior Management

You blew it!

Sell out

Pros

Good working conditions and its location. I enjoy very much working with my reports and peers. Overall you have to learn to deal with how senior managment works.

Cons

Very difficult review process. Way to much opinionated. I do not like to "HOLD THE SALARY LINE" he is making to much money. But, the Director level and above reward themselves with huge raises , PIA and stock. SUCKS!!

Advice to Senior Management

Some of you should go play on 422, Most need managment training. Rewards and pay increases outside of the research area need to be investigated.

Wyeth Anonymous:   (Current Employee)

Pros

The location and campus are great selling points, but the real pro is the work enviroment- challenging, freedom to think and flexibility of hours.

Cons

Given the acquisition of Wyeth by Pfizer, there is a high level of uncertainty about which organizations and sites will remain unscathed. The current sentiment (July 2009) is that if you are in BioPharma or Vaccines you will be safe, since this will be headed by Wyeths current R&D head. Who Knows?

Advice to Senior Management

Please communicate better with all employees, especially during this stressful time. Unless you are near the top you hear very little of what is going on with the acquisition.
