I have been working at Wyndham Worldwide full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good 401k match but only after a year. Very easy work conditions in NJ head office. Much harder in field at business units. Earn ok money without having to head into NYC.

    Cons

Extremely political especially in regards to promotions with corporate IT. Unqualified individuals promoted and hired into to senior/executive levels without relevant industry experience or IT background on regular occasions. People fired due to political issues. Executive IT management are considered incompetent by business units and their own staff have no confidence in their abilities. Executives more interested in forwarding their own agendas/resumes than improving the company. Lots of skilled IT people looking to leave. This is not a good place for someone who is committed to IT and wants to grow their career in technology.

    Advice to Management

Promote based on experience and skillset. Not just because someone walks by you office everyday and says nice things or is friends with someone in HR or another executive. Do not move someone from a non IT team into IT just because HR tells you to fill a skilled IT job quickly.

    Pros

Decent hotel benefits when travelling to other properties. Big enough hotel that offered opportunities to experience other facets of the hospitality business, but small enough to develop relationships with different departments.

    Cons

Benefits and Vacation time offered by Franchisee were very weak. No paid time off until after one year of service, one week the following year, and two weeks the year after that.

    Advice to Management

Realize the demographic that you have hired and are working with. Keep in mind that you are dealing with people and not machines that will be scripted in customer interactions.

I have been working at Wyndham Worldwide full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly and good co-workers, decent exposure to new technologies, relatively stable and large company. Relaxed work environment (pool tables and ping pong etc.), flex time and hours and 7 hour work days, at least on paper. Good 401k and health insurance policies, reasonable bonuses and other benefits including free vacations (hotel/resort stays). If you're part of certain key departments and smart enough, there is opportunity to travel around the world as they have offices in a lot of countries. Company policies are friendly for women, diverse groups etc. Overall I would recommend.

    Cons

Not exactly paymaster, but all things considered (i.e. location, hours, bonus, 401k etc.) not too bad. Change of pace is slow and could be more innovative.

    Advice to Management

    Embrace innovation and changes more.

I have been working at Wyndham Worldwide full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Wyndham Worldwide is named a top workplace in New Jersey every year for a reason. We have a fantastic culture here that offers employees the opportunity take advantage of development resources, the opportunity to move within the company, and the opportunity to learn every day from brilliant colleagues. Above all we have a very special characteristic in our senior leadership team, and that is authenticity. The tone set at the top is positive, it is supportive, and it continues to entice intelligent, driven professionals to join our company!

    Cons

Area of opportunity - this is expensive, but investing in employee laptops makes a massive difference to the user experience. Our financial systems are incredible, but it would be wonderful if my computer did not freeze up when opening large data files. Not a huge issue but would be a welcomed tweak to the current status.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing!
