Current Employee – been working at XL Group plc full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Colleagues are very professional and supportive, great reputation in the insurance world, cross-selling opportunities, very team-oriented approach to products, open to innovative coverages
Cons – Transition from change in upper management affected relationships, culture changed to an "AIG" production oriented approach
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at XL Group plc full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – XL treats employees as professionals and has good policies for remote working, travel, and time off
XL pays well and has very good benefits (for example: 140% 401k match up to 5%, uncapped, in the US)
XL has great collaboration and communication tools.
XL is global, so you have a good range of people to work with
XL is dynamic, so getting stuck only doing 1 thing is a choice mostly
XL treats their people to events such as an annual XMas party, a Glboal Day of Giving (socially responsible), and in some locations, a summer party.
Cons – Common management theme: "How cheap can you get the work done, and I need it done yesterday"
Lacking clearly defined roles & responsibilities
Want big things on small budgets
Advice to Senior Management – You can't buy a Mercedes on a Honda budget - be reasonable with expectations
Get better at quantifying and tracking capital investment returns. There is reasonably good rigor that goes into project definition, but when benefit assumptions do not hold true, hold managers accountable - do not whip people to work harder to make your number slook good

Former Employee – worked at XL Group plc
Pros – XL is a great place to start. There are a lot of opportunities to take on responsibility and grow. The other employees, particularly the actuaries, are all very friendly.
Cons – Senior management used to be fairly incompetent but with McGavick this seemed to be changing. Responsibility was not always clearly defined.

Current Employee – been working at XL Group plc
Pros – ability to control your career path; great fellow employees; fair salaries and supper bonuses.
Cons – iffy former senior management. Thankfully they have passed on. Rough time with current financial ratings although there is tons of money in the bank! Seems all a waste of time.
Advice to Senior Management – wake up, where have you been the past five years besides feeding at the trough raking in the bucks. I am sorry your stock is now worthless, but it is your own fault. You should have stopped the silly whooping it up years ago and actually gone to work and done your job.

Former Employee – worked at XL Group plc
Pros – The division I worked in allowed me to get exposure to all sides of the business rather than repeating the same tasks. I was given a lot of freedom to get my work done without my manager always watching over my shoulder. I also worked with some of the smartest people I have ever met.
Cons – The company as a whole does not have much spirit or life to it. It is very much a company where you go in and get your work done, then you go home. There was not much corporate culture and it did not offer many functions outside of work.
Advice to Senior Management – Please learn to invest our money in better funds and rework IT so it more functional for the smaller business units.

4. Who you know get you far
5. IT services is pathetic
6. Nonsensical acquisition strategy,
Advice to Senior Management – 1. Change the board
2. off load unprofitable business
3. Outsource IT, look for options at a minimum.
4. Attract and retain top talent. There are too many 'B' and 'C' players, need top tier talent
