I have been working at Xchanging (More than a year)

    Pros

An okay company to work for but not a company to settle down for a long term basis.

    Cons

Management not that great in terms of handling expectations of the employee and hardly any growth opportunities are available. Does not have a strong leadership to provide vision and guidance

    Pros

Allows plenty of flexibility and autonomy. Bosses don't give you hassle. Looks good on CV

    Cons

Very limited support "Virtual company"-no sense of being part of a team much less an organisation Huge uncertainty in job security and very high staff turnover. Company simply hires and fires as needed, no attempt to retain staff.

    Advice to Management

Management at all levels need to demonstrate more commitment to both the company and their employees.

    Pros

Growth opportunities are at a moderate level

    Cons

Submissive attitude plays a vital role. Presence of poor operation and HR management, which does not value honest and skilled workers. One cannot have the feel of job security here.

    Advice to Management

The recruitment team should include psychological tests in their recruitment process and also use the same tests to evaluate existing managers mental status. Success of any company depends upon having right managers handling teams

I worked at Xchanging full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you're unskilled, unmotivated and lack ambition and would like to sit out the rest of your working life, or even just cruise along for a couple of years without much challenge, this is the perfect place for you. Like anywhere there are great people here and there are some time wasters. Maybe there would be less time wasters if they actually had some training. Some of the SMT are actually really good and work hard to protect the interest of many and some are just out for themselves.

    Cons

At a company level: A weak and unclear strategy - tech enabled what does that even mean? Poor communication - seriously terrible Serious lack in engagement - it's the same story every survey and yet nothing changes Massive inconsistencies - within sectors A direction that changes constantly No understanding of what the market wants Staff turnover is extremely high at all levels Morale is low They claim there is power to change but it's always met with so much red tape They claim there's innovation but it generally falls on deaf ears. Has a reputation for being expensive, slow and poor quality. Not always a true reflection, but more often than not it's fair. Rookie business mistakes are made all the time by SLT. On personal level: No training No coaching No mentoring No career path planning Poor line management Forever changing processes Strategy and direction changes twice yearly Poor communication Low Morale High staff turnover No recognition No rewards No incentives No talent management No fast track scheme Grad scheme isn't a scheme at all

    Advice to Management

Stop with all the buzz words. Lazer focus, hmm I don't think so, rigorous resource allocation, absolutely not, flawless execution, err when? Stream lined processes, over engineered more like. The list goes on. You're not customers focused, you're not employee focused, you're not focused on a clear strategy to help you deliver the former, you're bottom line only focused (which isn't uncommon) but when you get that wrong you have nothing else to fall back on. This could be a great place to work and you could do some really great things and could have an amazing future. Especially with your unique leverage in the market place. But often you make the wrong calls, lose the good eggs, muddle you're way through, over rely on dwindling contract and seem to be doing everything for the short term and not the long. Which either means you plan to sell and are putting a nice glossy face on things or you're clearly in it for pay cheque and you plan to cash out soon enough. Some already have. Stop talking the talk and start walking the walk. Stop the empty promises and lip services. Stop the waffle and start providing some context. Most of what you say sounds really good but is actually meaningless. After four years, enough was enough. So I followed some advice and got off the bus. Ps I'm glad the poetry stopped.
