I have been working at Xerox

    Pros

The Channels Organization is growing and a good place to be. The partners are not employees and the go to market strategy is through indirect sales. Working alongside independent business owners is very rewarding and challenging.

    Cons

Xerox company culture has declined into a very negative environment. While evolving into an indirect sales company, Xerox has not promoted senior level managers and mid level managers who understand and appreciate channel sales. Leaders approach the business from a direct employee standpoint and programs are designed to promote direct employee motivations rather than entrepreneurial business owners interests. The leaders are not aligned with the company direction and induce friction amongst the partner - corporation relationship.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Xerox senior level leaders should listen to their middle managers and top leaders should place senior leadership positions with those who understand indirect channels and whose experience is in the indirect channels organizations. Real leaders listen to understand while others simply hear to respond.

I worked at Xerox as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Team was close knit and there was some flexibility in work schedules when personal issues arise. Managers have an open door policy and in my experience are willing to listen and help when needed.

    Cons

Xerox talks a big game when it comes to innovation but in reality they are far behind the times and don't like change. Management is very resistant to any change whatsoever, even something as simple as moving their desks. They have an aging workforce and stifle young fresh talent.

    I worked at Xerox

    Pros

decent pay for a call center position
if you made your numbers it was easy to go in and do your job without much issue

    Cons

    lots of micromanagement
the job was solely based upon numbers while attempting to keep up the pretense that we were about helping the customer
lots and lots and lots of drama at the crescent green location but this is probably because of the caliber of people that they hired

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

don't just hire anyone with a heartbeat, stop micro managing and place the customer first... not hold time and surveys

    Cons

    • Management trend for the lat 10 years has been to avoid merit or cost of living increases at all cost.
    • Have had to fight for advancement.
    • Offshoring through attrition is a common theme.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Xerox full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The pros of working in sales at the Xerox Corporation is that they really do foster an environment of learning. I would recommend Xerox to any college graduate looking to get some experience.

    Cons

Currently, the cons outweigh the pros, commissions are down about two thirds from 2010. Machines are worth less than what they used to be worth. There is a huge emphasis on out-looking and they look at every single deal with a magnifying glass. The main con though is that Xerox is more worried about revenue then their customers. In the past, there were many advantages that Xerox held over the competition that gave sales an edge in closing deals, especially the Total Satisfaction Guarantee (TSG). The TSG is the first note in the terms and conditions and states that the customer decides when it is time to change out a machine due to non-performance, but now Xerox is much more conservative when it comes to allowing customers to get replacements. Also, the company refuses to pay for Christmas parties, team lunches, and coffee. Duh... the cost of a cup of coffee is less than the amount of money you lose when I have to take time out of my day to find coffee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to the basics of what made Xerox great. Ease up on XPS, its not that great and customers don't really want it.

I have been working at Xerox

    Pros

Freedom to be creative. Great team environment. Interesting projects and innovative work. Changes in leadership are having a positive impact.

    Cons

Can feel isolated at times. It is often difficult to understand what other work groups are doing. Career pathing can be confusing and one often feels that opportunity for career advancement is limited.
