I have been working at Xerox

    Pros

Flexible work schedule, wonderful staff and management (mid-level).

    Cons

No development opportunity exists, career path is self directed (you must find your own). No increase in salary for over 7 years. No recognition program for employees.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Up-beat and fast-paced environment with mostly happy and energetic coworkers. Also, after the training base pay, you are in charge of your income, based on the number of calls you take.

    Cons

There's a lot of information to process all at once, as well as the strict working environment because you're dealing with people's social security information

Watch out if the business from your account goes south! - Xerox Learning Services (ACS)

I worked at Xerox full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    1. Competitive Pay
    2. Good Team (sans management)

    Cons

    1. Total lack of networking between Account Managers to move resources from one account to another.
Once your account closes, you are pretty much left on your own to search for openings within Xerox. What's worse, when you apply you are competing with outside applicants - you being in-house gives you no advantage. I have seen open positions for same roles appear in one account while people are being laid off concurrently in another account. It just does not make any sense how poorly the account managers are linked here. One reason could be that the ACS is still not well integrated with the mother company - Xerox.

    2. Fall promises by management to get you on board. They promised to process my GC and then back tracked when they realized the business from the account is going south.

    3. They have a stupid rule of not re-hiring somebody within 6months of being laid off. I am not sure what management reason is behind this rule other than paying out compensation probably. But due to this rule once you are out and you see positions opening up within weeks, you are not eligible to apply. I have seen this happen to a number of my colleagues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please integrate ACS properly within Xerox and ensure there is proper networking between the different Account Managers.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I have been working at a customer service call center near Portland for the past 9 months.
The location is an easy commute.
The work is a guaranteed 40 work week with benefits and overtime is available.
The employees and supervisors do what they can to make a pleasant work environment.
Training is adequate and there is a lot of support.

    Cons

There isn't much hope of a career path here.
The shift bidding system could work well if it wasn't corrupted.
Being able to schedule earned personal time off weeks in advance has proven problematic.
Work-life balance is heavily skewed toward work.
An example: Despite numerous conversations and emails with various people and a perfect attendance record, I was unable to secure proper approval for eligible time off and was told I would have to call in as a "no show" for which the attendance system would penalize doubly because it fell on a weekend.
Since the shift bids are based on attendance, the next bid will be penalized as well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is fairly demoralizing not to be able to schedule a Saturday off especially after carrying a lot of overtime over the holiday season. I know call centers are a high turnover business and training isn't cheap so, why would you want to alienate and even penalize good employees by denying simple benefits?

    Pros

Staff cares about doing a good job

    Cons

Upper management does not care about employees. It is all about making them look good. Upper management makes promises that are not kept.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to look closely at what is really going on.

    Doesn't Recommend

    Disapproves of CEO
