    I worked at Xerox

    Pros

Worked from home, worked with some AMAZING people throughout the years.

    Cons

Company decided it would be cheaper to outsource work to other countries than to keep their tenured US employees. No room for growth unless you know someone personally in upper management, no matter what your annual reviews say. Highly underpaid compared to co-workers. Raises were always promised but never delivered.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value and compensate the employees that are in the trenches doing the day to day work, instead of just rewarding upper management with bonuses and trips and rubbing it in everyone's face. While outsourcing positions to other countries may be cheaper, in the long run, it will be a HUGE mistake. You get what you pay for and your customers are not happy with the transition.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Strong legacy. Great front line people.

    Cons

Radical off-shoring. Constant contraction and layoffs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think of long term impacts to decisions. Immediate financial outlooks do not negate the need to invest in performance in the long run. Don't be short sighted.

I have been working at Xerox

    Pros

The Channels Organization is growing and a good place to be. The partners are not employees and the go to market strategy is through indirect sales. Working alongside independent business owners is very rewarding and challenging.

    Cons

Xerox company culture has declined into a very negative environment. While evolving into an indirect sales company, Xerox has not promoted senior level managers and mid level managers who understand and appreciate channel sales. Leaders approach the business from a direct employee standpoint and programs are designed to promote direct employee motivations rather than entrepreneurial business owners interests. The leaders are not aligned with the company direction and induce friction amongst the partner - corporation relationship.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Xerox senior level leaders should listen to their middle managers and top leaders should place senior leadership positions with those who understand indirect channels and whose experience is in the indirect channels organizations. Real leaders listen to understand while others simply hear to respond.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The teams are very supportive when you first start. Sups and agent from your team are always willing to assist you and make sure that you do your job successfully. When you prove that you deserve it you can advance very quickly.

    Cons

Customer service jobs very challenging and not very rewarding in terms of salary in most companies. I believe the salary could be higher without hurting the company specially with high cost of health insurance to employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

not much to say so far.

I worked at Xerox full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Fun training program. Work is ok. Pay is decent

    Cons

Supervisors were always out on smoke and not willing to take escalated calls. Hours are for someone who doesn't have to have a life outside of work. Kept saying employees would get raises and never did.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

In desperate need of talent at all levels of the ITO organization, so there are opportunities to contribute. The brand still has some relevance and provides access to work with multiple Fortune 500 clients. Great experience is available to a committed technologist.

    Cons

Still struggling to digest ACS, a badly mismanaged company with disastrous internals and a demotivated staff. Raises/bonuses are not be had, and the leadership team doesn't seem to understand how deep the rot is.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The middle managers throughout Xerox are complacent, self-satisfied and not interested in the drastic changes that will be required for the company to succeed. The ITO operations in particular use an off-shore first model that was fresh a decade ago and is simply unable to provide the capabilities this company needs. If the rumors are true ATOS just bought a very sick operation.
