Good Pay for a Simple Job, But Just Wasn't for Me

I worked at Xerox full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

$10/hr training, with quick raises to be to $13 within a year. And it's a fairly easy job, just sitting talking on the phone all day. As long as you're able to think fast, be a problem solver, and know how to deal with angry customers.

    Cons

You don't get your schedule until after the 5 week training, so you may really like the job but have to leave when you see your assigned schedule. Also, they have mandatory "shift bids" from time to time and your schedule can totally change. For those two reasons, make sure you truly have open availability. (I believe people not being prepared for those schedules is a big part of the reason why they have such a high turnover rate.

    Advice to Management

Maybe revamp that scheduling policy. I guess maybe there's a good reason why they do it (or at least I hope so), but it would be such a great job, and you would keep people longer (thus saving on training costs) if you'd offer more stability in scheduling. I loved it there but I just couldn't deal with those scheduling policies!

I have been working at Xerox full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Stable and 8-5 job without much challenges. Under a good management who knows what they are doing, it could still shine.

    Cons

Where to start? Bad management, bad practices, management has no clue what they are doing, disconnected environment, lack of proper communication, no recognition of talent, stagnant salaries, and I can go in...

    Advice to Management

Fix you stuff. It is not working and it will never work if you try to mop under the rug.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You can get a lot of overtime.

    Cons

Low pay if you only work 40 hrs and the co-workers and work atmosphere are very ghetto or low class, unprofessional and inconsiderate to others taking calls. No real career opportunity or advancement. They try to promote that you can move up quickly to be a supervisor or senior agent or trainer however you will still be making the same amount of money. No one makes more than $11-12/hr and they only start you off at $10. You will not be compensated for your advancement

    Advice to Management

Need to have agents cut down on outside conversations while on the production floor. Customers complain that there's too much background noise and it sounds like a party. Also need to hire people with proper English speaking and pronunciation skills and an overall more professional demeanor and attitude. Better compensation for those who want to advance. No one makes more than $11-12.50/hr and they only start you off at $10.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are so many chances for advancement in this Webster ny facility it's ridiculous. If one had the will and the skill they are very willing to work with you and develop and mold you into what you want to become.

    Cons

If you are a single parent the scheduling is not east but if you have the will to make it happen, anything is possible.

    Advice to Management

Keep the atmosphere as is. Especially in training.
