Pros
Xilinx is is a growing profitable market but good strategy and execution is has been going well over the last year or two
Cons
Xilinx haas undergone a lot of cultural changes and people are still having a difficult time adapting. Also the pay for performance process is horrible and a waste of a lot of work
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of the pay for performance and half year review. It is a waste of effort and does not help drive better performance
Pros
Talented and focused senior management
Culture of pay for performance
Excellent peer group
Cons
Destruction done by previous senior management team is still impairing breakout growth.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep it up.
Pros
Company analyzing employee feedback and putting an action plan in place
Vibrant, innovative culture
Accountability
Team environment
Cons
Some employees are negative-maybe by nature...
Advice to Senior Management
Follow through with the action plan on employee survey, which is the plan and will give employees confidence Xilinx cares.
Pros
a. Location: In the valley
b. Legacy mainstream products work well in the field
c. Customers are buffered from the effects of the mismanagement of the last few years
d. Cafeteria
Cons
a. "Mean"agement will grin and stab you - (if you are thinking of a marketing job, look elsewhere)
b. There is no work-life balance since Moshe and his SVPs took control - (bring Wim out of retirement please!)
c. Poor job security - if you're not one of the favored employees
d. Marketing is clueless about what customers want and management will force their will on the customer
e. Performance management culture came with lousy HR VP from cadence and managers abuse it now.
Advice to Senior Management
Leave or ask the board to sell Xilinx to a stronger company. It is not sufficient to keep increasing the cash dividend to shareholders. Xilinx has stalled compared to Altera, to which we have lost market share since 2010. Altera also has the lead in 40nm which is going to lead to market loss in the coming years as well.
Pros
the technology. You are always at the leading edge, and the people.
Cons
The management style stinks. Feel the Management have no faith in their own employees, and are looking for any excuse to fire you. I cant believe you can not have a management style that is positive AND expects hard work.
Advice to Senior Management
You did a survey which showed what was important to Xilinx employees. Follow through with this
Pros
- dedicated and caring employees
- extremely hard working employee who try to care about the company
- great if you're in the inner circle
Cons
- insane long hours
- no advancement possible
- questionable management decisions
- unrealistic expectations set by mangement
- staff work in fear of losing their jobs
- expect a summer and winter shutdown
Advice to Senior Management
You need to care more about the employee.
Pros
- work in the sector that is stablished and has very potentials in growth
- relatively decent salary and benefits
Cons
- recently the environment is so toxic,
- upper mangers don't know who does what, I know the manager who steals her employee's work and let them go to escape being lay off herself!
Advice to Senior Management
- Some of you just think your job is to attend meetings and if you get board schedule another meeting and that is all.
- Get some hands-on tecnical experience to get better idea what your employee do!
Pros
there are a lot nice and friendly people there
Cons
leadership and management are very bad
Advice to Senior Management
be kind to people!!
Pros
Good life work balance. Fair to their employees.
Cons
Too foucused on marketing vs. the original vision of it being a technical, engineering foucused company. I don't know how that will play out in the long run.
Pros
Infrastructure in the company is good.
Cons
Too drastic a change in a short time frame and moved multiple jobs to India. This makes people from HQ reluctant to share for afraid of being laid off after transfer of know-how.
Advice to Senior Management
Too realistic to get to the bottomline. Have some human factor in your decision making.
