Pros
Salary is very good
Benefits are decent
Financially stable
Bonuses were paid out during the recent downturn
Technology provides interesting work
Cons
Executive management is very weak and in some places vindictive and completely self-absorbed
Pay-for-performance implementation is executives get paid for your performance
You are left in the dark about anything relating to performance reviews and favorites and political gamesmanship rules the day
If you speak-up you are labeled a complainer and told that "there are plenty of people who want to work for Xilinx
Advice to Senior Management
Realize that your employees are there by choice any why you think you can just swap them out at any time for someone else, this has a major impact on the people - there is no need for the toxic environment some of you create in your organizations - people will produce better results and be more satisfied if you treat them with the professional decency and courtesy they deserve
We have an incredible opportunity for growth - more sharing of the rewards of that growth is warranted as it is the innovative ideas and hard-work and dedication of the employees that are creating that success - do not settle for 10% of that potential success as that does not provide enough for those whom are creating your wealth
Pros
Working level people are very cooperative and helpful.
Xilinx has a legacy as a great company.
There are a number of great thinkers remaining at Xilinx.
Cons
Our culture has shifted dramatically from legacy CEOs.
There are the elite, and then the rest. The rest are unimportant. People who helped build the company are unimportant.
Innovation, and vision dramatically reduced. We count beans, rather than innovate.
The business is moving away from its core values and what made it successful in the past.
Advice to Senior Management
At a fundamental level, they are intelligent, but don't seem to understand the Field Programmable Gate Array business. They do not seem to embrace the business initiatives that made us successful in the past. Quit counting beans and put some money into R&D.
They do not value the culture created by Bernie and Ross.
