Pros
Interesting product and high potential for growth.
Working with talented interesting people.
Good benefits.
Cons
Employees are feeling disrespected by upper level management, a mere "cost" to be minimised.
Some poor decisions by upper level management in the past, time will tell if things are being put right.
Advice to Senior Management
Morale is LOW and this will eventually cause problems.
The only way forward is to make the employee feel respected. Perhaps the best way to do this is to increase job security and increase opportunity for compensation.
Pros
Xilinx offers a flexible working environment allowing home/work balance. It is also a friendly multi-cultural company that allows individuals to integrate quite easily.
Cons
There is no real clear personal growth prospects within the company with most people on a simirlar level. Performance reviews are not transparent and unfair. IT Systems and processes needs streamlining. There are multiple systems not really linked to each other and people have different understanding of the systems and processes.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to set a clear vision and direction for the company. Since the new CEO joined, there has been a clear change in culture on the ground but there is no acknowledgement by senior management about this. Instead mgt is focusing on emphasising that the culture is still the same. This creates a very confusing and frustrating atmosphere.
Pros
Historically Xilinx is
- A Pioneer in the field
- FPGA sector has a huge potential
- Enormous business and technical growth opportunities
Cons
All that is listed above has kicked the bucket since the new management has come in
- Upper management has no clue what they are doing
- Xilinx is losing the loyalty established by Wim (at one time it was called the 'retirement company')
- Employees have no faith in management
- No efforts are made to improve employee confidence which is at an all time low due to crappy HR policies.
- Promotion of incompetence and termination of competence is very transparent.... very bad for the future.
- Vast differences in competence levels, across geographies. Cause for a multitude of issues.
Advice to Senior Management
- Don't use recession to cut jobs. You've the highest profit margins in the semiconductor industry.
- Change your performance evaluation policies. Try to root out incompetence across the board. Don't use HR policies to cut employee strength.
- Lead by example. Cut your pay, earn a salary in stocks (also applicable for all employees). Use it to retain people. Renew the original confidence and loyalty which existed 5 years ago.
- Communicate and motivate your employees.
- Read all the review on this website and the internet, you'll know more about the real picture.
