I worked at Xilinx full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company to work for. The technology is innovating and interesting. Company has a lot of potential and will continue to grow.

    Cons

People are not treating each other with respect, specially in customer operation. Management need to address the bully issue within the group

Once a top 100 company to work for is now a depressing prison

I have been working at Xilinx

    Pros

Xilinx pays extremely well and has great benefits

    Cons

The mantra of do more with less eventually becomes unsustainable. The management team is filled with a bunch of brilliant engineers that are horrible managers and lack leadership ability. People show up to work -- depressed to be there, going through the motions only because they don't know how to get out. The passion for technology and innovation has slowly faded in the eyes of the masses. The most talented people have already left because they realize their career will be hampered by staying at Xilinx.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just because you say "words" does not mean that they resonate with employees. Come out of your glass towers and actually LISTEN to employees instead of pretending to listen. Your employee survey is a big, fat joke. Exec management doesn't truly take action. They play a charade pretending to make "progress" to appease employees. Xilinx at one point had the best of the best as far as employee talent -- however, the current management chain made a conscious decision to no longer value that asset. It became about what's in it for them...not what's best for the greater good.

    I worked at Xilinx full-time

    Pros

Used to be a people-oriented workplace with great camaraderie and security. Products and business may be improving but not without other cost.

    Cons

New management has dramatically swung the pendulum away from people in favor of profit

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reign of terror is breeding culture of treachery and disloyalty.

I have been working at Xilinx full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Fast pace environment in IT and we're always overloaded with work, but Xilinx does recognize its good performers versus bad ones. Review periods are more focused on pay for performance.

    Cons

Leadership is lacking in IT department. There's a divide between the few IT departments that make it difficult to be cross functional and efficient, upper management hasn't changed in 14+ years, everything seems slow paced and stale, no room for personal growth but great company if you plan on doing the same thing for the next 20 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give incentives to keep the good talent around, or else they will all leave for better things.

    I worked at Xilinx full-time

    Pros

Xilinx has excellent technology and should be a market leader for many years to come. The current Virtex-7, Kintex-7 and Zynq-7000 families are strong products that will perform very well. The new Vivado software is also quite good and will help maintain Xilinx's position as a market leader.

    Cons

The satellite offices are treated as secondary to the headquarters in San Jose or the development office in Hyderabad, India. Opportunities are currently very limited for anyone that does not work in one of those two offices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't ignore the capabilities of the people in the satellite offices. They have a wealth of knowledge that could be very helpful to the company.
