    Pros

Fun office environment, great work-life balance, competitive salary, opportunities for growth, involvement with the community and volunteer opportunities.

    Cons

No cons to report, just started last month.

  2. There is one thing worse than working for them: being unemployed. Maybe.

    Pros

X-Treme Consulting outsources employees only to Microsoft. You have access to tons of Microsoft products training (video and presentations). You also have free soda. But not from X-Treme Consulting.

    Cons

No corporate culture, no performance evaluation, you are basically by yourself. The fact that outsourced employees can stay with Microsoft for 18 months only made things better for them and worse for employees, once if someone leaves it resets the clock for any outsourced position and it is just a matter to recruit a new person. During the time I worked fro them, I was invited to go to a picnic and to go to a place to have a picture taken with my "co-workers" to make me feel part of something. Employees receive a US$5 Starbucks card as a birthday gift.

    Advice to Management

Emails sent to the owner asking for help with my transition were not answered. Kind of clear they are happy the way they are and that they really don't care about their employees.

    Pros

Xtreme provides a variety of contract opportunities with local companies.

    Cons

Not very good a placing candidates into new positions if they have come off a project.

    Advice to Management

Say what the company is, a stafffing company.

    Pros

    * Competitive Salary (When I was hired)
    * Excellent work/life balance
    * Talented team members and supervisors
    * Excellent location.
    * Great benefits including medical/dental insurance, PTO, etc.

This is probably the one of the best vendor companies to work for, they care about their employees, and for the most part have done well hiring the right people for the job.

    Cons

    * They are trying to fill positions on our teams but offering new recruits drastically lower compensation than they used to.
    * You never really know how you are doing (performance-wise) as an employee, they leave you alone.
    * No mentorship or guidance when asked for regarding career and skills development within the company.

    Advice to Management

Do it right, don't let the company fall by the wayside and become another Tata Consultancy, etc.
Hire the right people for the job, and offer competitive compensation for their roles.
If you continue trying to low-ball your recruits, you will never hire quality newcomers, and your veterans will eventually leave for higher positions elsewhere.
Cultivate career development and advancement within the company, otherwise you will be left between a rock and a hard place when your veteran employees move on to different jobs.

    Pros

Employee representative is nice and visits the job site regularly to check in and ask how the employees are doing

    Cons

    - Company is unresponsive when employees voice their concerns. Laptop did not having the capacity to run data-heavy Excel reports, and Xtreme took months to address the issue. Computers are outdated and bulky compared to what other consulting companies provide.
    - Senior management was slow addressing changes in contracts with employees

    Advice to Management

Empower employee representatives to do more for employees. While my employee representative is very nice, she is unable to address most issues without having to loop in additional contacts who are not nearly as responsive as she is.

    Pros

I have been with the company for just under five years. This is a young fast growing company with great leadership in the CEO. The internal staff is very friendly and the company hosts great events where you get a chance to meet everyone. There are many opportunities for employment and growth in your career. Salary and benefits package is great with PTO included for most employees.

    Cons

Communication about changes within the company is poor and it seems there has been quite a bit of internal turnover in the past six months. I also wish Xtreme had a 401k match.

    Advice to Management

Communicate better with your employees. Understand the strengths of the company and what separates Xtreme from the competition and keep building on that.

    Pros

They tried their best to get the best salary possible for their employees.
    Did support outside interests.
Was able to work with the organization on and between contracts.
Great work-life balance. Was able to work at home most of my tenure.

    Cons

Organization is geared towards service support engineering, where my career was software developer.
Wished they had listened to my request because I did provide a benefit to the organization.

    Advice to Management

When an employee notices something wrong, listen.

    Pros

Management cares about employees and is hands off enough to let us do what we do best. Great pay and benefits.

    Cons

Upward growth difficult on vendor roles, but this is the nature of vendor work. 401k match would be great.

    Advice to Management

Keep your Fargo ND manager at all costs.
