Management is led by educators and social workers with little to no management aptitude.

Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
Flexible Scheduled, Ok pay , and also very understanding managers
Cons
Very hard to move around in the company
Pros
You meet some really great individuals
The people with disabilities recieve a tremendous amount of support and learn a great deal when there (outcomes are actually working to there benefit)
Some of the programs give you the autonomy you desire
Cons
There is no room for advancement, everytime I tried to go in any direction I was blocked by management (still waiting on my year review)
They dont follow protocol; they make rules up as they go along.
Honestly the pay is not that great either I mean its 2 dollars more than you make with other agencies but how can you afford to pay your bills and upper Managment is getting paid millions (see The New York times ad; Recently released)
When you have personal issues they don't care; they make little concessions to help you and redirect you to EPA. How is EPA supposse to help me if I need a schedule change? Really!
Advice to Senior Management
Stop being title happy and throwing your power around.
Pros
YAI as a company treats employees well.
Cons
Not a lot of room for promotions within the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Some supervisors are not as open to the open door policy.
Pros
- Easy to get comfortable
- Constant staff training
- Professional at times
- Working with like-minded people can be great
- Many career driven people
Cons
- Advancement is non-existent
- Working in group homes is extremely stressful
- Due to the nature of the work, employees back stab each other frequently
- Management does not care if you love the company, any problems and they pressure you to quit
- Management ACTIVELY may prevent you from any room to maneuver
- Write-ups can be used to instantly end chances for longevity or advancement
- Staff members will literally fight you on the job
- Management, especially upper management are drunk on their power
Advice to Senior Management
Too many teachers pets and unofficial managers, ie: long-term employees that are treated like managers and given statues, yet curse/disrespect newer employees, saying things management would never be allowed to say.
Don't screw over those who love the company for those who dont.
Pros
-they hire great fun people (too bad they lose them)
-They wont fire you since everyone quits
-You get a good feeling knowing that YAI is important for families and people with disabilities
Cons
-CFO only likes and promotes men
-NO Growth, they would rather hire from outside
-ZERO SALARY INCREASES although upper management is getting paid way too high...always the excuse of "budget Cuts"
-Sneaky management that will promote people in the department but wont annouce it or have the person keep it as a secret because 4 people within the same department who do more and have been working there just as long or longer have not seen one promotion or increase
-Employees that sleep at their desk get recognition over the person who works
Advice to Senior Management
You hire great people and do a very poor job at keeping them. FIX IT!
Pros
Strong support for staff and good management philosophy, good benefits and great time off, best provision of services to people with developmental disabilities.
Cons
People tend to stay here a long time so there is little room for advancement. Going through chain of command sometimes makes the process of getting things done painfully slow.
Advice to Senior Management
Be willing to adjust how things have been done in the past in order to move forward in a changing world.
Pros
Great team environment.
Excellent Feedback
Ability to learn transferable skills
Excellent benefits
Cons
Room for advancement begins to bottleneck at a pay level that is not conducive to being a breadwinner.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work.
Succession Plan wisely
