I have been working at YMCA

    Pros

Free Ymca membership, free cpr and first aid certification.

    Cons

The supervisors had no idea what they were doing. There was no option for more work hours and we only got paid $9.00 an hour with no raises.

I have been working at YMCA full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Professional development is top notch in this organization. If you want to make a career out of this place and love healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development then go for it.

    Cons

Some of the challenges are that it can take a while for your career to jump start. Working at the y can be stagnant sometimes if the right director cant see a future for you.

I have been working at YMCA part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Working at the Y offers a very flexible schedule. Family friendly environment.

    Cons

The pay is very low. Unless you are in corporate, pay is really only accommodating to teens new to the work force or as a secondary income.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If there are several branches under your specific YMCA...make sure all of your branches are doing the same thing and offer better training. Uniformity!!!

    Pros

    Pros

The pros of working for a ymca are many. People that you meet and get the opportunity to help, and just get the opportunity to know them.

    Cons

The pay and the hours are probably the biggest con. Im just starting out with the company so hopefully this will improve.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To pay your good employees well, so that maybe they will stay. To have to hire and train new staff all the time is hard.
