I have been working at YPM

    Pros

Office culture is very friendly and collaborative. Everyone knows your name and seems to care about each other. There is room for growth, especially in the Media Management department and I feel like I'm able to have a life outside of work, which is nice. Management has open communication and wants what's best for the company and employees. The company has strong values and takes the time to train employees. They set you up for success.

    Cons

    Overall, I have no complaints.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you're doing and keep the communication open.

    I worked at YPM

    Pros

YPM employees some of the best people around. There is no fat at this company. Everyone who has been there for any length of time is very competent at their job. I believe the pay is very fair with what the job entails. The training is fantastic and gives any solid employee the tools to succeed.

    Cons

The job is demanding (like any job). If you cannot operate at a high level, it will be communicated to you. To me this is still a "pro." This goes back to YPM only wanting the very best.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None, other than to trust the people that work for you. They are great, but I know management knows this.

    I worked at YPM full-time

    Pros

Most employees were extremely kind. Salary is satisfactory. Expanding to digital front. Nice team building exercises. Work is mostly 8-515. Business casual dress most days.

    Cons

Too much micromanagement. Mostly still based on yellow page advertising. Prioritize seniority over performance mostly. Very structural, they want you there from 8-5. Weird rules like they allowance of mustaches but not beards. Lots of talking in whispered voices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Eliminate the unnecessary structure.

    Pros

Decent paying job if right out of college and good with excel and internet media knowledge.

    Cons

Work hours are longer than most. Environment is stiff and Nazi like.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give examples of what work life balance is like during interview and give examples of what exactly they will be doing.

I worked at YPM full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Great place to work at if you're straight out of college and don't know any better about how a modern company in the 21st century is supposed to operate.

    Cons

Professionals beware. This company supposedly prides itself on “having never laid off employees due to the economic recession.” However, they have zero problem with using California’s “at will” employment policy and terminating an employee with no real reason except to say “they’re going in a different direction.”

No flex time. No opportunities to occasionally work from home (if you are ill) even though a lot of work is done online.

    Terrible, terrible management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Needs to improve communication with employees. If performance needs improvement, let them know and give them the opportunity to improve. Don’t just let employees go without reason or cause.

Unnecessary structure. Archaic dress codes, especially for employees who are not client-facing.

Also, when you’ve got management constantly complaining about and making fun of the VPs and the CEO, it’s not a great work environment. Those was absolutely no feeling of teamwork in my department. Choose different leaders. Not people who aren't enthusiastic about the work they are doing.

I have been working at YPM full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good for entry level career only

    Cons

This company follows unethical business practices. It's a family owned private business so they get away with everything. It is impossible to reach the top. They are discriminating towards the appearance of their staff. The majority of employees hired are inexperienced and uneducated. Only a selective few are actually competent.. The owners like to follow a "cost effective" strategy when it comes to their employees, so don't expect to be compensated highly. The pockets of the owners always stay full. The industry is going downhill and will likely disappear. The staff is like a revolving door and turnover is high.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Share the wealth.
