    Challenges in Yahoo!

    • Comp & Benefits
    • Work/Life Balance
    • Senior Management
    • Culture & Values
    • Career Opportunities
Current Employee - Technical Manager  in  Beijing, Beijing (China)
Current Employee - Technical Manager in Beijing, Beijing (China)

    Pros

    1. Opportunities to work in many exciting new technology. There's an incorrect perception that Y! is not innovating sufficiently; but this is an incorrect perception. This perception is motivated by challenges in execution & ability to drive a new innovation to market.
    2. Great diversity. Y! still has many opportunity to work with people from different parts of the world.

    Cons

    1. Too many turf issues among middle management, especially among Dir & VP. These wars result in inability to innovate & execute.
    2. Lack of accountability. There's no penalty for failures, thus it has become a culture where result is not important anymore.
    3. Too perception driven. Talents with capability but poor people skills, are never promoted, resulting in loss of valuable talents and a culture where employees care more about good people relationship than delivering user stunning innovations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Two top priorities:
    a. Change culture to result oriented vs perception oriented
    b. Less turf wars

    Recommends
    Positive Outlook
    Approves of CEO
