    Pros

Learned a ton as this was my first internship. Taught me all the fundamental concepts needed to work as a front-end engineer in the industry such working with MVC frameworks, writing modular, and more performant code. Amazing manager and some of the best engineers to learn from.

    Cons

    Can't come up with any.

I worked at Yahoo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - free food - lot of fun events on campus - trying to revive the culture and moral - few teams are really doing good work - CEO is putting relentless efforts to revive the company

    Cons

    - middle management is clueless - middle management talks more and deliver less - quaterly performance rating (QPR) is a farce - constantly changing leadership also keeps changing product roadmaps and vision and makes individual goals ambiguous - some stuffs in management is not technically sound and nurture favouritism to get things dine in their way - team morals are at the rock bottom - work life balance is at toss

    Advice to Management

    - please get rid of QPR its being wrongly used and bringing no value

I have been working at Yahoo full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great for life work balance. Great benefits. Nice and generally collaborative people in teams. Great food. Shuttles in Bay Area.

    Cons

Too many status updates and too much politics. Best people are leaving yahoo or have left a while ago. Hard to hire smart motivated folks. If you happened to be one - you might make an impact... Or not.

    Advice to Management

Question people's motivations. Hire well - find motivated talent

    Pros

Some great people working there. Great food. Fun atmosphere.

    Cons

Overall feeling of being second rate. Everyone uses Google products, even if Yahoo equivalent exists. Yahoo ads often market scams/malware, but nobody I talked to seemed to mind.

    Pros

The pay is on the higher end.

    Cons

They really take advantage of freelancers. You're working 40 hours a week at least, so really you're not able to have another job -- yet you're denied benefits or treated as well as full time employees.

  7. Great team

    I worked at Yahoo full-time

    Pros

I love the team that I worked with. Instead of being reactive to the releases and production issues, I got wonderful support from my management to put resources on improving quality. It is the trust and the long term vision/willingness to invest in the future that gave people the incentive to work harder.

    Cons

unfortunately, not every team is like that. while it is a nice to place, you just have to find the right manager that has the vision you agree with.

    Advice to Management

The CEO will get a much more accurate picture by just sitting in all kinds of engineers meetings to get a real feel about what stalls engineers.

I have been working at Yahoo full-time

    Pros

Some really top engineers work here - and most do not have huge egos Smart people at the executive levels - the company is moving forward in the right direction Great benefits

    Cons

New hires/acquihires are rewarded disproportionally to existing employees. Very hard to make meaningful gains in salary within. Some critical properties (email, messenger) don't seem to be managed well

    Pros

    Exceptional Perks, and amazing opportunities.

    Cons

Can seem stressful at times, but worth the investment to be a part of such an awesome company. It would also be nice to see a great investment in the Silicon forest location.
