Advice to Senior Management
Execution is key. Yahoo! is losing its edge as a tech company that can bring out competitive products. Many things are done on the surface, but underneath, the development process is a mess and can no longer execute well.
Pros

Advice to Senior Management
Management may look towards streamlining the processes in place for project implementation. give yahoo employees better benefits in terms of health, transportation.
Pros
One has opportunities to learn and innovate in different areas software and unstructured data analysis. Depending on individual interest one can increase specialized skills.
Cons
It is not clear how the company can retain its market share with the current product set (when new companies are taking away the market)
Advice to Senior Management
Define the company and product vision better. Try bold moves to increase the employee confidence. Try to keep the talent at various levels.
Pros
Yahoo! is great for getting experience with working on large scale engineering problems at a well known, highly respected company. You may work on systems that serve tens of millions of people per day.
Also, the company is very good with work-life balance. The interactions among coworkers (individual contributors at least) are generally quite friendly, relaxed, and supportive.
Cons
Management structure is pretty dysfunctional: there are simply too many managers that seem to drag any decision making and planning out for too long. I've seen too many times the situation where 5 or more managers/stakeholders call for several meetings to discuss what will only take 1 developer a few weeks to work on.
Also, the incessant negative news articles and blog posts from the media can be a downer, in terms of morale and engagement.
Advice to Senior Management
Streamline the org! This will make the company more operationally efficient, faster moving, and reduce the cost structure. It may also improve morale.
Pros
- Chance to work with really talented and highly motivated people
- Technology stack is good
- Problems faced are challenging
Cons

- Need to be more agile
Advice to Senior Management
- People need to be held accountable
- Need more transparency in feeback and review
Pros
flexible work schedule, friendly working environment. do not have to do a lot work at night or weekend. overall ok
Cons
promotion is not easy to get. talent people leaving yahoo. high turn over rate. management decision change frequently. not feel very stable.
Advice to Senior Management
more respect to engineers. make decision making process more open to engineers. more compensation. more and more and more consistent strategy.
