Pros
Opportunity to work with a large variety of challenges on a daily basis.
Cons
After the sales to Microsoft, most people were trying to jump off the ship.
We had sendoff parties every few weeks.
Pros
The internship was challenging and interesting and you were surrounded by really knowledgeable people. Overall good experience for my future career, and a good line to have in your CV
Cons
The uncertainty around Yahoo's situation was very disturbing. Some parts of our project got cancelled because of rearrangements in Yahoo's assets. A lot of people were on the fence about staying or leaving.
Advice to Senior Management
Find a way to leverage the great talent at Yahoo and rally it around a unified focused vision and product.
Pros
Top people are really top notch. The technologies you learn there will translate well to many other companies.
Cons
Software dev methodology is often behind the industry, legacy code is really bad. Constant high profile company turmoil.
Pros
Yahoo is a great place to get your feet wet with Internet technologies and big datasets. The office culture is very pleasant and there are still a lot of very talented people working here.
Cons
Yahoo has been in decline for a long time, and I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel. The company has lost a huge amount of talent over the past few years, especially after the search deal with MS.
Advice to Senior Management
Find a way to make Yahoo cool again. Branch out into some new markets that aren't completely occupied by FB and Google. Release some daring new products and don't worry about trying to be like Google. Find your own identity and carve out your own slice of the pie.
Pros

Good perks, 401k
Usually good middle management, dependent of your group of course
Cons
The senior management just doesn't know how to innovate.
The board of director appears to be completely inept, and Mrs Bartz should have been fired by now

Advice to Senior Management

Pros
Inspiring smart people around
Good recognition if you work hard
Cons
Management is making a move towards being a media company. Even though its the only chance for Yahoo to survive, for engineers its a little disheartening.
The worldly view of Yahoo sucks and Yahoo is not able to change it.
Advice to Senior Management
Its a hard puzzle to solve. Everybody talks about how Yahoo is going down but nobody seems to have a clue if given a chance or nobody wants to give Yahoo a chance. So screw those people and move on with the current strategy. This is the last chance and hopefully it will work
