I worked at Yankee Candle full-time for more than a year
Pros – Best reason to work for the company is because you don`t have to stay over night to do floor moves and best part get paid every week.
Cons – Company is super fake. Don't care about their employees. Very very cheap with payroll. They want so much work done with no staff and no $$$. I would think twice about working for this company if your thinking of applying.
Advice to Senior Management – I think the DM should work more elbow to elbow with their management staff instead of bossing around not even knowing how to run a store on their own. DM take there titles beyond their heads. M.Morris D37

I have been working at Yankee Candle full-time for more than a year
Pros – The company is led by a capable CEO. He is backed by a sensible board of directors. The products are good
Cons – My review is for corporate. Execs are unethical. They lie to CEO and to own teams. They dump work on good workers while excusing others. This results in good workers and professionals leaving within months. Recently VP of insights, several good workers and brand director left due to excessive pressure and no support. Other good workers are biding time. Empire building is at every level. Exec team doesn't let managers connect with CEO. Execs back bite against CEO. CEO continues to rely on execs that are actively trying to sabotage him. Poor results are blamed on lack of IT systems and skilled people.
People interested in politics, avoiding work and staying in the area should join. People seeking good work and professional growth should be cautious. No good worker has ever lasted beyond 12 months. Good workers are let go of because they get blamed for poor performance. I do what is needed to stay because I want to stay in the area and keep my job in a tough economy.

I have been working at Yankee Candle part-time for less than a year
Pros – You don't start at minimum wage, you always smell good after a work shift and you are encouraged to smell all of the candles to get to know the products which is a lot of fun. Some of the coworkers are pretty nice once you get to know them.
Cons – A very negative, anxiety-filled environment. All coworkers/managers in higher positions bully the lower position employees. Most of the employees are in constant fear of being yelled at and/or fired (they're always yelled at regardless). Employees must hound customers even though they usually want to be left alone to browse. There's this secret shopper employees have to be on their toes about all the time, but the secret shopper never actually seems to comes around. You're also not allowed to have any piercings, tattoos or unnatural hair so basically you have to have no signs of a real personality, a human robot. Not going to lie here, the list of cons goes on and on!
Advice to Senior Management – Relax (seriously) and try using some positive reinforcement with your employees!

I worked at Yankee Candle part-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Flexiable schedule, a nice work atmosphere; they are very big on product knowledge and training with excellent benefits plus a great discount on wax produts.
Cons – Work hours vary every week and one week you may work two day and the next you may get four days so your pay checks are never the same making it hard to budget from week to week.

I worked at Yankee Candle
Pros – Great candles and great customers.
Cons – Like an episode of Girls Behaving Badly...& I'm talking about managers. At times, shockingly rude service shown to customers by the store manager. Employees who fell from grace were shown the same lack of respect & became targets of gossip.
Advice to Senior Management – Senior managers, be mentors to store managers. Totally think that the unprofessionalism starts at the top.

I worked at Yankee Candle
Pros – Management really cares about the balance between your work and personal lives. Training is thorough and continual so customer service is always top notch. It was a pleasure to work for this company.
Cons – The system by which the retail stores stocks are replenished is too top down. Often, retail locations will receive goods that are not in short supply or will not receive goods that are needed.

I worked at Yankee Candle
Pros – The benefits were great. They had great rates for health insurance. I really enjoyed the people I worked with.
Cons – I transfered to another store. The store manager wasn't always pleasant to work with. She would let you know if you didn't do a good job. I was with the company for 12 yrs, and had an argument with the manager. I left the store to avoid conflict with the manager, and I called HR rep. Well of course they let me go, even though everyone else had a problem with her also. I was very disappointed with the company with their decision.
Advice to Senior Management – Look more into a situation that wasn't really my fault for leaving the store. I was a dedicated employee!! I still feel I wasn't treated fairly.

I worked at Yankee Candle
Pros – The discount was fair, the customers were the best but management needs alot of people communication skills and to stand up for their best employees
Cons – Low pay and no advancement even after 4 years, unfair treatment by management and they dont stand up for their asociates. Very judgemental unfair resolutions to problem issues
Advice to Senior Management – Play by the rules, everyone should have to follow the same, and not managers that are always gone during business hours
