    Pretty good

    Intern (Current Employee)
    Miami, FL

ProsGot to work on big client projects that you can't work on in a smaller firm. The best part is the people, they're all pretty awesome. It's important to have good culture in the agency. The dress is casual so that's a plus.

ConsThere was a lot of down time. I felt annoying always asking my supervisor to give me work.

Advice to Senior ManagementStructure your internship program better so interns can fully take advantage of the opportunity.

    Nice people, management opaque

ProsThere are some nice people here, good pace of work

ConsTrying too hard to be hip; should just focus on serving their slightly-conservative clients well.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe truthful to people, don't just "yes" them and then lay them off.

Great place to work, but there is still room for improvement...

    Account Executive (Former Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsExcellent place to start a career in advertising.
    Long-standing partnerships with clients.
    Dynamic and friendly work environment.
    Smart account leaders.
    Strong strategy / planning team.

    ConsVery low pay.
    Difficulty retaining good talent.
Both, agency and clients maintain a very traditional mindset.

Advice to Senior ManagementAn agency is as good as its talent. Y&R should focus efforts on two things:

    1) Talent Recruitment - The summer internship should focus on quality and not quantity. Agency should stop hiring people because of their connection with Sr. management; people who just need a summer job but have not interest in advertising. The agency should focus on recruiting smart and motivated kids who have a passion for the field.

    2) Talent Retention - Either increase compensation across mid-level management, or more workshops/skill development training, more often during the year.
