Great people to work with, even though tutors don't get raises or allowed to go over a number of hours per week.

    El Paso, TX

ProsFlexible with schedule, if you're in school.

ConsIf part time, there is no wage increase.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive wage raises to people who work part time.

    Great place to work

    Clerk (Current Employee)
    El Paso, TX

ProsWonderful people to be around. Administration respects their employees and tries to give them special treats from time to time.

ConsParents can sometimes be difficult to handle. They complain about everything, they constantly call in to give their children last minute messages which interupt the classroom and their learning time.

Spent 13 years and position was rif

Case Manager Teen Parent Services (Former Employee)
    El Paso, TX

Prosthe district has a lot of dedicated teachers and dedicated administrators. There is room to grow in the since if you have a great adminitrator you have the ability to grow.. At the same time you are able to have a weak adminiatrator and the work falls all on one shoulders.

ConsIn my case my position was not protected by a contract. After 13 years of service when the economy tanked programs began to be cut and mine was one of them. I feel that a lot of great employees were let go and had no protection, due to the fact we did not have a teaching contract and no it has become difficult to get back into a school dictrict setting.

Advice to Senior Managementupper management needs to realize that a lot of great teachers are doing multiple jobs, as well as hourly employees becauae they are fearful of loosing their job as well.

I love teaching and enjoyed it totally.

    Teacher (Former Employee)
    El Paso, TX

Prossent to multiple workshops to update teaching skills and methods to teach students to pass the Texas Assessment tests given at end of year.

ConsAt the time I taught, we were pulled out of the classroom too often for meetings, workshops, programs and we were still held responsible when students did not learn. There are many factors for not learning that are not taken into consideration, home values, lack of interest from student, parents inability to help children at home and too much blame given to the teacher.

Advice to Senior ManagementClasses need to be balanced better. Not all low performing students placed in one classroom with a teacher who has just graduated from college. Teachers that have been teaching for more than 6 years should be the only ones placed in testing levels (3-12). New teachers need an in class mentor the first year of teaching.

ProsIt is a progressive place to work with a great deal of collaboration. I am proud to say i have been an employee for the past 13 years

ConsCompensation for postitions other than teaching is not fair.

Advice to Senior ManagementI do a lot beyond my scope of work and am not compensated for it
