I worked at ZF TRW full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Rewarding, challenging, fast paced environment with great leadership who will help and give great guidance.

    Cons

It's automotive, so it's a beast of its own. You will have long days, crazy deadlines, but this is normal at most Tier 1 suppliers.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing, I was happy at trw, and really wouldn't change a thing. Benefits are another story.

    Pros

Great colleagues, flexible schedule, decent work environment.

    Cons

Conservative pay, and boring employee appreciation picnics.

    Advice to Management

Management should try to have a sort of town hall meetings whereby everyone should know each other. Overall, Good Management

I have been working at ZF TRW full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They focus on quality and that is very important. The staff is fairly well trained and most people do what they're supposed to.

    Cons

The managers are stationary. There is not a lot of Movement from managers so engineers who want to become managers have no chance internally. That will eventually be when I move out. I see no chance in improving my position outside of moving sideways.

    Advice to Management

Hire internally more. Focus on being more attentive to your engineers and give them a chance to move up within the company. Many people feel stuck in their roles.

I have been working at ZF TRW full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Competitive salary, multi cultural, many opportunities.

    Cons

Too much money oriented, health benefits have deteriorated substantially since I started 10 years ago.

    Advice to Management

Have a clear vision for the future, don't be afraid or making decisions!

I have been working at ZF TRW full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of travel, good bonus checks, good insurance. Other benefits come and go but on the whole are competitive

    Cons

Division Vice President is from design , no mfg background. Lots of finger pointing. Quality suffers while people point fingers. Plant managers are weak especially in Mexico, Michigan

    Advice to Management

    Put quality first

    Pros

    Successful company, solid outlook, profitable

    Cons

Difficult work, stressful, compensation skewed too highly to upper management

  9. Fast paced intense environment, but political. Decisions are sometimes governed by people who are across an ocean.

I have been working at ZF TRW full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There is a lot to do, and you get the chance to learn a lot. There are some very bright people who can teach a lot.

    Cons

Bottom line is profit, so they will cut heads based on the numbers of the day, instead of any using any outlook to the future, and just re hire within 2 to 3 months.

    Advice to Management

Trust local engineers and don't rely on what people across an ocean say.

  10. Great company, skills valued.

I have been working at ZF TRW full-time

    Pros

Truly believes in the talent that each employees possesses. If you're a hard worker, they'll see it & challenge you to improve yourself, your career & experience at TRW. My team(s) are great - all are working towards a similar goal & are able to contribute when needed. Personalities are mixed which make the work atmosphere fun and different each day. TRW really does want to make a change in some areas and encourages employees to help with that.

    Cons

The typical "big company/ corporate environment" can be felt at times. At times some people feel restricted. Easy to combat though with stepping up.

    Advice to Management

I'd say be different, be bold. Try to get away from the "well this is how it has always been" type of work life. Attract new talent to bring new personalities, new ideas, new creativity to TRW.

  11. Great Company to work for that has all their ducks in a row.

I worked at ZF TRW full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good working environment that is small enough where you can have your center stage. Opportunities to learn various disciplines about the business side and the technical side.

    Cons

Work-life balance can be difficult depending on your job function and some weeks you will work more than 40 hours during crisis mode (nature of the business) Maybe tough to move up the ladder within this company but is a great stepping stone.

    Advice to Management

    Invest in updating your technology!
