I have been working at ZS Associates full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Good growth opportunities
Competitive salary and benefits (only in non off shore offices)
Good analytical work (however project specific)

    Cons

    Bad work life balance
Difficult to reach out to senior management (again this is manager/principal specific)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ensure a better work life balance to your team
Build expertise and expand into other markets
System that enables better feedback from junior team members

I worked at ZS Associates full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people are amazingly smart and super nice. The office atmosphere is very warm and pretty much has an open door policy. The staff is very diverse which is refreshing.

    Cons

Management is very phony. Most of the things that come out of their mouth should not be believed. Associates work super long hours and administrative staff should be very careful because if a Principal has an issue with you then you should start to look for another job. Management gives very little direction on what they need and HR is not there to protect employees (they do whatever senior management says) even when they disagree or know it's wrong. The review process is horrible as your picture is displayed on a projector screen with all the Principals/Managers in a conf room and then they discuss you saying what they like/dislike about you. I've never seen this done anywhere before as the person to review you should only be the person you report to/work for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the staff and give more direction in what you need and want from them. Rethink the review process as it is very demeaning and unprofessional.

I have been working at ZS Associates full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Challenging and interesting work. Smart people to work with. Less travel than other consulting firms.

    Cons

Unlike other consulting firms, we are staffed on multiple projects, sometimes with multiple clients and multiple managers. It's really hard to manage and please everyone.

I have been working at ZS Associates full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Meritocracy - You get great opportunities based on your performance
Visibility - Great work is recognized and appreciated
Growth - Great learning and growth opportunities

    Cons

    Work life balance
Limited growth opportunities beyond the Manager level. Selling is the sole focus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Avoid playing catchup. Have more thought leaders that can predict the big waves in the industry and have their practice areas setup and talent composition setup accordingly
Place big bets and investments in growth areas. Be more employee centric.

I have been working at ZS Associates full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Enjoyable work, thoughtful people. ZS's turnover rate is around 20% usually and people stay much longer at ZS than at other companies.

    Cons

Long hours, although people with the longest hours and the most involvement with offshore teams have much, much higher engagement than people who do less of that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make manager a more appealing position. At the current pay, it is not worth it. People consistently leave right before or right after promotion to manager.

Great opportunities, not progressive with life/work balance ideas

I have been working at ZS Associates full-time

    Pros

Amazing opportunities, really can be a part of growth, very personable leaders

    Cons

They don't do anything about their life/work balance issues. They need to start allowing work from home, flexible hours, and other benefits that the competition offers.

I have been working at ZS Associates

    Pros

ZS really does provide a lot of value to their clients. The people were all intelligent and real team players.

    Cons

The work, especially at the lower level was very similar between projects. You were doing the same thing but for different clients
