    I worked at Zaaz

    Pros

Good environment, friendly people, good culture

    Cons

    Nothing really to say here.

I have been working at Zaaz full-time for more than a year

    Pros

~Being able to work from home
    ~Flexibility in work hours
    ~Bringing your dog to work
    ~Lots of vacation days

    Cons

Everything else. Salaries are ridiculously low for this areA and management claims to make up for it in other ways, which just means free beer. I would much rather be paid decently than get a few free beers. This place highly promotes drinking which is great if you want to become an alcoholic. But the drinking can start by 10 am and for their annual Christmas party there is literally ZERO food, but you get free drinks. There are no long-term goals shared throughout the organization and no career advancement, unless you are related, or married to somebody else in the office.

This place caters to the young and single crowd, people who have no life outside of work and want to stay at the office partying all night. If you are an actual adult, have a family, have morals or have a strong work ethic, this is definitely NOT the place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try paying your employees an actual living wage and the turn-over won't be as high.

    Pros

-Great culture and smart creative people.
    -Opportunities abound globally and locally.
    -Bring your dog to work!
-Ability to work with global "big sexy" brands and make a real impact.
-Strong belief in transparency throughout the Agency, nothing is off limits.
-Even the Global CEO's site out in the open air environment and are accessible to anyone.

    Cons

-Although the pay tends to be slightly less than other local companies they make up for it in other ways. Regular happy hours, wellness benefit, great vacation plan and sabbatical after 5 years of employment. Additionally the people make this place pretty incredible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to focus on culture and transparency. Even during the not so great times times the ability to have full disclosure creates brand loyalty and openness not found in many places.

I have been working at Zaaz full-time

    Pros

    - The culture and people make this a fantastic place to work.
    - Opportunities exist to work overseas with an internationally-based web agency
    - Experience working with high-end brands such as Mazda, Audi, Pella, International Hotel Group, Microsoft, Ford and many others

    Cons

The compensation is not on par with other agencies or tech firms in the area. This is offset in large part by the culture benefits and high-quality team members.
Lack of upward mobility is also a problem if you want to remain in the Seattle office. Opportunities do exist for those who are willing to relocate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to lead with transparency and pursue long-term business with strong international brands. Maintain the values and work environment that have made ZAAZ such an great place to work over the past decade.

I worked at Zaaz full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great place to learn about marketing sciences and "process". Good people. There's a bar in the office so you'll get friendly quickly.

    Cons

"process" is king. There's not enough time to do great work. Everything is limited by the budgets. The project managers have mixed experience. Some are excellent and champion good work. They know marketing and are willing to get the best teams to work on their projects. Others could care less and want to get home as soon as possible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sometimes you have to take huge risks in budget in order to gain the benefits

I have been working at Zaaz full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The culture and people at ZAAZ are amazing. It's the best company I've worked for in that regard. I've gotten to work on huge brands directly with clients based on my skills, not my title.

    Cons

The downsides are that sometimes the work is insane, this is true of any agency, but lately ZAAZ has been understaffed creatively and picking up the pace in hiring new talent. What that means is that near the end of every project, I end up working a bunch of weekends, along with the rest of the team. This wouldn't be so bad if the salary was better, but it's not, and I haven't had a raise in 2 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more creatives, you're burning out the ones you have, which is indicated by the rate of attrition right now.

I worked at Zaaz full-time for less than a year

    Pros

If you're an alcoholic, this is a place for you as they promote drinking with a fully stocked bar.

    Cons

We were using a specific software to create prototypes for clients but upper management refuses to purchase licensed copies. They told us to keep downloading the free 30 day trial version with different email addresses. They said it's because the software isn't in budget. However, the same week the iPhone 4 came out, everyone on the executive level team (and people who worked there long enough) all got one as a gift on the company's dime. Zaaz was billing clients at least $150-250/hr per person working on the project yet they refuse to buy 5 copies of a $500 software.

Also, for the amount they are charging the clients, they really do not pay their employees well.

I have been working at Zaaz

    Pros

ZAAZ is a flat organization that rewards initiative, passionate thinking. Any ZAAZ employee can make a career-execrating move that can take one to the next level. Also, an amazing work culture. You work with brilliant people in a fun work environment, and with the flexibility and easy-going attitude, it's really easy to want to come to work every day.

    Cons

Employees who have families are at a disadvantage. It often feels like ZAAZ caters to the single, young employee and forgets about those who are more senior and need more in benefits and salary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think more holistically about how you want to structure the company for the next 10 years. Don't manage your company month-to-month, but as yourself what you want ZAAZ to look like in 10 years.

I have been working at Zaaz

    Pros

ZAAZ features a flexible, relaxed work environment where employees can work from home any time they like. In the downtown Seattle headquarters, an open bar serves as the hub for social interaction and legendary parties. Dogs roam the office freely. However, the best thing about ZAAZ is the culture. It's full of collaborative, thoughtful, authentic people who care deeply about their craft and their co-workers.

    Cons

The pace of the work, client drama, and billable hours can make for insane schedules, but that's life in a digital agency.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay involved and in touch with the daily life of the agency. Stay visible. Guard the culture above all else - it ZAAZ's most valuable asset. And keep on kicking ass.
