Pros
Fun environment, work hard play hard mentality. There are always company events to allow for people to get to know one another. Everyone is very helpful and courteous to one another. Fair management and always very understanding of personal issues that arise - allowing for time off whenever needed. Great work life balance, praise for job well done when warranted.
Cons
chaotic, playful environment can get mildly annoying at times but certainly something one can deal with. Lower than industry compensation but great benefits make up for lower salary. Interview process is very long and can take months.
Advice to Senior Management
No advice, was a great experience and keep bringing great people on board! That is what makes the company so great!
Pros
cool people to work with.
Cons
Since Amazon bought the company it has become to focused on the $$$ and less focused on the employee and their life. Tony Hsieh ran a beautiful company and is a great person to work for. Always remember how he built the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Have more respect when it comes to an employees personal life. Some of us have church and other commitments in life. We work a certain schedule so we can balance the 2. Mandatory overtime is almost always on and intereferes with everything else. Remember the core values that Zappos was built on and do not just use them to your advantage.
Pros
- intelligent, open-minded, FUN employees, managers, and leaders
- a million great perks (happy hours, parties, free food, it's pretty much the Disneyworld of offices)
- best. benefits. ever. PERIOD.
- leadership/management are open to employee suggestions
- leadership/management encourages and facilitates the entrepreneurial spirit amongst employees
- leadership/management treat you like a human being, not threatened by employees ideas.
- very egalitarian environment where you feel empowered and trusted as an employee.
Cons
- can be a very distracting, loud environment
- if you don't like to drink you might not enjoying working here.
- if you are over, say, 35 you may not enjoy working here in part because your manager might be like, 25 years old. It is a very young crowd.
Pros
Bright, passionate people all working toward shared goals. The positive energy is palpable. High value is placed on building authentic relationships with inner and outer department teammates. Highly, highly social workplace. Which is great for a lot of people but not for everyone. If you are worker bee that prefers to plop down at a computer and plug in the headphones, this is not the organization for you. Expect interruptions, expect not to check off all the items on your daily to do list but know that you will have be challenged to give all of yourself everyday. And it's worth it! Tremendous opportunities for growth.
Cons
Work/life balance can be a challenge depending on the department. What makes this not completely a 'con' is that you become friends with most everyone you work with. So often, it doesn't feel like work at all and I mean that honestly. When you are truly passionate about the work you do and who you are doing it alongside - it makes it a lot easier to strike that balance.
Advice to Senior Management
Less meetings, please. Always a hard thing to achieve but there are creative and efficient methods out there at this point. The excessive meetings slow down innovation, efficiency and (shockingly) actual communication. But overall, most everyone you interface with, in any department, is going to be sharp, fun and incredibly giving of their time. Which is saying a lot because their time is spread thin!
Pros
People love being at work, we work hard, and have fun. Also offers great benefits, especially health coverage.
Cons
As we grow, it's harder to get to know everyone.
Pros
Zappos is more than a job.
Cons
Zappos employees are under paid.

Pros
-FREE lunch and vending.
-Employees are treated equally and fairly.
-GREAT management!
-LOTS of hours=lots of money.
-Great co-workers!
-HR really listens to you!! They have comment/suggestion boxes and actually act on some.
-When I was there, they sometimes had free concerts at lunch. It was nice way to take some of the stress away.
-One warehouse offers Nintendo Wii & Internet access at lunchtime.
Cons
-Its hard work! Lots of lifting, walking, and moving around. You'll get your exersize!
-Long hours, can be tiring/stressful.
-Training could use improvment. Sometimes I was unclear on what I was suppose to be doing, Luckily other employees were glad to help.
Advice to Senior Management
training sessions need improvement.
Pros
Free health insurance, free lunch, unique workplace
Cons
This is a great company, however, I feel this department of the company is among the weakest link. Some of the most creative individuals are in the photo, video and imaging teams, yet these areas of the company are treated no differently than the warehouse. Most of your day will not be spent doing things that are related to photography or styling, but doing more clerical warehouse tasks such as scanning boxes.
Advice to Senior Management
Tell the truth. If you are hiring someone as a "stylist", explain that more than half of their job is clerical, and requires heavy lifting, moving gaylords of shoes, repackaging clothing and doing general labor. This is a warehouse gig, not a creative gig. Being honest in the job description will in turn bring in job seekers who want this sort of a job. Photo, video and imaging are run just like the rest of the warehouse, from the clock in to labor management procedures.
Pros
free food, good benefits for permanent employees, family fun atmosphere
Cons
Length of shifts, pay could be higher, Sheperdsville location
Advice to Senior Management
Please try to go back to 8 hour shifts.
Pros
I knew Zappos was the place for me when at the 3rd week of training, they made me the offer to quit the company or take 3k with no questions asked and it took me less than 1 microsecond to answer back NO.
Great working environment, Leadership really cares about employees, their well being and development, there are well established plans of growth for the company and for the employees.
You can actually talk to any senior level execs at any time if you have comments, suggestions or even complaints, they will listen and actually take action.
Health benefits have no comparison, you don't have any out of pocket expense.
Real discounts for buying merchandise at Zappos.
Happy hours, social events, sport events, parties, out of office outings and anything you can think of is a daily happening at Zappos.
Basically it is the kind of Job where you can really say,"I can not believe I get paid to have fun and make friends while actually doing something that I love"
You work with real People!
Cons
The only think that I don't like is that we are constrained in office space
Advice to Senior Management
Tony you have created the Happiest place on earth, thank you!, Disney, I am sorry you are no longer the happiest place on earth.
