I have been working at Zara part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Pay is the biggest perk, $12/hr in New York City (I can't speak for other cities). There is ALWAYS something to do, depending on the location where you work and what department. Women's department is hectic and the busiest, but you never just look around for work or pretend to be busy. There is possibility of moving up, since the company openly hires from the inside before hiring outside higher positions. Also, you meet great people!

    Cons

Stores are mismanaged. There is no communication between departments and between employees and managers. Schedules are almost always messed up, so you have to go through the process of playing telephone with managers and looking for someone to take your shift. Employee discount is terrible, only 15%, and that's after 3 months of working. Speaking of promotions, most of the people holding corporate or high paying jobs in ZARA are all from Spain. Maybe it's just because I work near the corporate office in NYC, but it is true.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do more 1-on-1 with your employees. Try changing up departments, instead of sticking employees in one department. Open up communication and not be so condescending towards people in lower positions.

I worked at Zara part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

They pay 10.50 which isn't bad for a retail store. They also train you for 2 weeks.

    Cons

I go to school full time and they would always put me to close. They were not flexible with hrs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should be more considerate of your employees.

I have been working at Zara part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I actually enjoy coming to work mainly because I love the people I work with and what I do. I earnestly being a cashier and the interactions I have with customers. My manager is also awesome and understanding. Everyone, in general, is friendly and willing to help. I also like the fact there is a base pay plus team-based commission. No one feels competitive to have to "beat" anyone. It's all team work.

    Cons

The employee discount is abysmal. I lucked out with a great manager but I've heard other department managers within our store being very disorganized.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just overall organization and mindfulness towards employees needs work. Zara's standards and policies are very high but executed quite poorly. That needs work.
