    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase interaction between departments, allow flexibility to work from home, update hardware for employees

    Pros

    Good group of people
    Fair work/life balance
Quite a bit of time off

    Cons

    Team structures
    Management
The office environment is very cliqueish and high school. Not professional. Especially for those used to a more corporate environment, then again, I guess this is what to be expected with an agency and most employees are millennials.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider allowing team members to rotate between teams versus staying on the same one for years.

    Pros

Very flexible work environment, great vacation, flex day and holiday schedules.

    Cons

Admins are expected to support many executives....some people support up to 5 execs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Limit the # of Execs an admin should support to 3 which is more than fair.

I worked at ZenithOptimedia full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Paid Time off,
    Can't think of anything else.

    Cons

    Extremely political work environment.
    Very poorly managed company.
The pay is sub-par by NYC standards.
Worked in the IT Group, the senior management lacks experience. They keep promoting inexperienced people like them to cover up their mess. Raises are NOT based on the performance but they are based on kissing up to the higher ups. Against the company policy, the managers keep hiring their incompetent friends and relatives. Many people in the IT department have worked here for years without any career progression and timely raises. Hard work and loyalty is not valued here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire your CTO. Start doing background checks before recruiting people.

I have been working at ZenithOptimedia full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

-Training program helps you learn a lot about media, develop friendships with your training class, and meet people in different departments (though you are not paid very well during this time)
-Assistant level salary is pretty good compared to other agencies
-There is often free food and alcohol around the office, and random work perks such as company parties with open bar or vendors taking you out for lunch/dinner
-Young culture, most people are sociable and in their early to mid-20s
-The office is located in a nice area of West Village where it is not too loud or crowded and there are great places nearby to go eat for lunch

    Cons

-When you finish your training period, you are placed based on company's needs. Some people end up in a department that they did not want to be in and are stuck there for at least a year until they can find another opportunity elsewhere.
-During "busy" times there is horrible work/life balance, and if you are assistant level you are usually staying late for no reason. You are only allowed to leave if your VP and supervisor has left and the rest of the team feels like leaving and tells you that you can leave. This means that sometimes you can be sitting around at your desk for hours waiting for someone to give you the okay to leave.
    -People can be clique-y
-High turnover rate causing many accounts to be understaffed
-If you are assistant level, you are running on other people's time and often waiting around for people to give you work that they don't feel like doing. This means that you are usually doing mindless and nitty-gritty stuff.
-Office space isn't as good as other agencies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Staff teams properly, if someone leaves the office try to make it a priority to hire someone to take their place.

    Pros

    Very organized training program
    Many opportunities for growth
Chance to work with wide range of clients and departments

    Cons

    Slow growth
More Organization and better communication of departments
    Low turnover after finishing program

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care more about the employees you have, you will stop losing them that way

I have been working at ZenithOptimedia

    Pros

    Time off
    Location
    Office space
Client reputation in the business sector

    Cons

Management and team structure along with responsibilities. If you are not in upper management e.g. Director, associate director, you're seen as a junior level employee and treated as such. Which doesn't work when you have over 6 years experience in your career and are being treated and talked to the same way someone fresh out of College.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realign team roles and stop managing up and catering to unrealistic client needs when it falls on the other employees.

I have been working at ZenithOptimedia full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

This company offers great benefits. Lots of vacation time and unlimited sicks days. Also, the salary is competitive especially compared to other agencies. Great health benefits and 401k plan.

    Cons

Zero work/life balance. If you are hoping to work at Zenith, you should expect to work very long hours and weekends. The overall moral is very low. This company also has a very high turnover rate. Also, there aren't any real growth opportunities. Upper management is so busy they don't have time to conduct yearly reviews for their employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make time to conduct employee reviews. If you don't conduct reviews, your employees have no way of knowing how they are performing and what they can work on to improve their overall performance. Also, it is impossible for employees to see a future with your company if you don't have the time or respect to discuss it with them.
