I have been working at Zimmer full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great industry and our products are changing our patients lives in a positive way
Highly competitive salary with the added bonus of living in a low cost of living area (NE Indiana)
Personal development and growth opportunties are endless if you are willing to put in the hard work
Surrounded by very bright and experienced co-workers that are dedicated to the company
The culture is starting to change and the CEO appears to be dedicated to creating a healthier culture
Willingness to provide the necessary resources to achieve our highest priorities (Quality Excellence, Trident, etc.)
Bright future with the pending merger with Biomet

    Cons

Vacation and holiday time is not as competitive as it was in the past
Our systems and processes make it challenging to do our job efficiently. (i.e. expense reports, travel, purchase orders)
Lack of diversity in management positions and no real desire from leadership to change it
Quick to make decisions at the top but we want to execute before we've taken the time to do thoughtful planning
Lots of red tape to get through to accomplish anything
Decisions are made at the top levels of the company only

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be brave and willing to change the things that aren't working even if that means shaking up your leadership team. Stop being so conservative and try things we've never been wiling to try in the past. Changing the dress code recently despite an unwillingness in the past is a good first step. Talk to your employees - they have lots of ideas if you are willing to ask but more importantly to listen.

I have been working at Zimmer full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

In the production environment you have to stand out as a go getter. You have to be committed. If you have the drive to prove your worth and you stick out being a temp its worth it......... its VERY worth it.

    Cons

Its very competitive. You might be a temp for a time. You cant just show up and expect that to be enough. Its also very Bureaucratic.

I have been working at Zimmer full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Working relationships with Supervisors and coworkers

    Cons

Would be the drama of older coworkers that put alot of negativity and annoyance into not doing there jib and harassing people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They need to investigate and be fair on how employees are disciplined. A lot of of good employees have been terninatedvon hear say because of disgruntled coworkers.

I have been working at Zimmer full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Some coworkers are good. Pay and benefits are good. Location is good.

    Cons

Constantly changing directions from management. Not enough employees in many functions to get the job done. There is not good work life balance. Many are currently looking for jobs because of the merger.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop having so many surveys that people are afraid to answer honestly. It is a waste of money. Offer retention bonuses for people to stay through the merger. Too many people are spending time looking for jobs since there is no confidence that they will stay employed.

I worked at Zimmer full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The work is easy, the pay is decent for what the job entails, most employees are pleasant to work with.

    Cons

Management will force unpaid overtime and will change time cards after the fact to remove hours worked, inadequate training, poor communication between departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your employees according to the law. Don't allow supervisors to force unpaid overtime or to change time clock punches.

I have been working at Zimmer full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

They some of the most talented people I have had the joy to work with, but most now see the company as a training ground and then go on their way to different companies with less stress and better oppurtunity to advance.

    Cons

The moral is as low as I have ever seen. Less benefits at a higher cost, taking easy things like vacation away and removing some of the floating holidays. They are slowing stripping away all the reasons people come to a big company like Zimmer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop taking surveys if you only plan on making it stick to my immediate manager. the problems arise 2 levels higher. Stop using the lowest 5% rule to get rid of people. After many years of this, people rules as valued contributors are being force ranked into lower classes.
