Cons – Dealing with disgruntled customers can sometimes be tough, but that is the nature of the business, not the fault of the company.

Pros – - Senior management not afraid to challenge the status quo
- Great freedom to execute the plans you develop
- Great culture, fun company, it's a blend of marketing, operations, retail and auto worlds
- Competitive pay, bonus potential is there, but challenging to achieve
- People really believe in what they do - not a lot of people that just "show up"
- Close-knit, but very open and eager to bring in new talent
- If you can justify the (fill in the blank item/task/project), you can make it happen!
Cons – - Marketing finally catching up with the times; recent leadership changes should address this
- No 401k match (although there is a 401k plan)
- Need to beef up HR department - it's a work in progress
- Mobile platform needs to become the best again - no more excuses
Advice to Senior Management – Keep pushing for constant improvement while maintaining the great culture that's there. Keep bringing in more people who want to make a difference and work hard to move the company forward.

Former Employee – worked at Zipcar
Pros – Flexcar teams were fun, high-energy, and mission-driven. People wore many hats and improvised resourcefully to solve problems and get things done. Internal promotions grew people professionally and were good for morale.
Cons – Flexcar experienced some churn in ownership and management, and somewhat lacked process discipline (probably inevitable when growing so rapidly), but the strong prevailing can-do attitude counteracted the potential chaos.
Advice to Senior Management – Flexcar was acquired by Zipcar and integrated under the Zipcar brand and management team. The ideal company would leverage the high spirit of Flexcar along with with the lean process discipline of Zipcar.

Current Employee – been working at Zipcar full-time for more than a year
Pros – Coworkers are awesome. Product / service is very cool and interesting.
Cons – Lots of weird stuff, like we never have enough paper towels. Executives seem to set direction according to whim.
Advice to Senior Management – Get to know your employees and learn to relate to them as people. Stop chasing the new bright and shiny thing and give us some time to fix things that are broken or make known improvements.

Former Employee – worked at Zipcar as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – Great concept, fun environment, interesting people, good location, beer on Fridays.
Cons – Hard to understand the business model and how Zipcar will earn meaningful profits, employees too much spread around due to limited space
Advice to Senior Management – Share longer term plans so you know where the company is heading. Just look like the cost continues to be very high compared to the revenue coming in.
