I have been working at Zoe's Kitchen full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I have worked for several large companies with very awesome cultures. However, this is the first small company I have worked for. I really enjoy every aspect of the company. When I drive to the office, I am excited about what I am going to do. There is something really special happening at Zoes!

    Cons

So small and sometimes role clarity is an issue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to stay the course, continue to focus on the employees and food quality.

I have been working at Zoe's Kitchen

    Pros

The mission as they describe it is to Deliver Goodness and employees are asked to really go above and beyond to make someone's day or share a smile. The food is far better than you'll find elsewhere in this business and everyone is very helpful. The stores close at 9, so there are not really late restaurant hours.

    Cons

They are growing really quickly, so you have to be able to work quickly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay focused on the mission and remember to share thanks with the people that are doing a great job!

    Pros

Long hours but wonder rewards. Good family life balance. Company truly cares about employees.

    Cons

Management is constantly changing. Bonus structure is also constantly changing. Room for growth is there if you want to relocate out of state.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop changing.

I have been working at Zoe's Kitchen

    Pros

Very friendly people, my manager is the nicest boss I've ever had, free meals, it's pretty fun sometimes, they promote really easily (they're tight on managers since no one wants to work aMINIMUM of 45 hours/week), good training techniques

    Cons

Not enough pay!!!! Shift leaders here do way too much to get paid $9. I practically do everything a manager does but get paid less than half of what they get. VERY long hours (sometimes 8 am-10 pm). If you get stuck in my situation where there's only a shift and a manager you get screwed. Manager will work so much that they're fried and they try to put way too much responsibility on you. Corporate is a bunch of selfish pompous liars, all they care about is numbers but they try really hard to create the illusion that they care about their employees. Regional operators will come in once in a while and sit there smugly judging you as you're trying to deal with a rush. Corporate puts way too much pressure on managers. Labor is impossible to keep down with a full service kitchen-LOTS of prep.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a position that's in between AGM and shift. Take a step away from the numbers and focus on the real people that are working their butt off 40 hours a week for you to get a big fat paycheck. Let people work overtime without freaking out

I worked at Zoe's Kitchen full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The food is a healthier option and the quality is great. That is about it on the pro side.

    Cons

They tell you that managers have a great work life balance. WRONG! I had no life and was forced to work so my labor was low. Manager hours don't count against you when it comes to labor. I was working 50-75 hours a week. Don't let them fool you. I left with plenty of vacation days saved up but I hated it so much I had to get out. You will have no life and they don't care about you and as a manager you have no control of hiring or firing of your Assistant or Kitchen Leader.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your people better especially good ones.
