Pros
- Free food and sweets almost every morning from Vendors
- Good training program and almost daily product and brand trainings from Vendors and specialists
- If you hang out long enough, you'll be given accounts, Zones has a huge turnover rate and as long as you wait it out, you don't even have to find accounts.
Cons
- Terrible base pay, they lie to you on how long its going to take to "ramp up" on the sales floor and start making decent commissions, so you're stuck at a low pay grade. In reality, it will take almost 2 years to make any margin on sales consistently.
- Incompetent management and sloppy workers, no money invested in improving working conditions for the building or employees. IT sales company, and yet they operate on the slowest, most problematic computers I've ever worked with. Easily 5 years behind trends in the IT industry and what would be considered standard.
- Too much focus on "metrics" and not enough on potential of employees
Advice to Senior Management
Stop pumping out as many reps and large training classes as possible and focus on quality over quantity. The company is prospering in large part due to excellent medium sized accounts and enterprise, yet I was embarrassed to be working there. Invest some of those private earnings into newer technology for a technology "solutions" providing company and maybe reps will focus more energy on calls instead of waiting for pages to load online
Pros
free pens, shirts and nik naks.
Cons
Lead pool has been depleted to such a degree that new sales people can only grow a book of business by acquiring accounts from leaving sales reps when a manager deems them worthy.
Advice to Senior Management
Free up leads that are not worked so sales people have an opportunity to grow their customer base and thus earn a wage to support a family.
Pros
Can be good experience, likely to make some good freinds. Very good chance to gain some sales training and sales expereicnce. The training program provided is usefull. Some of the management is not bad. Overall the benifits provided are good.
Cons
Expectations are high, support for sucess is very minimal and its all about the numbers. If you dont make good commision the pay is not good. Its all about sales and your not provided with the tools to succeed. Providing new employees with a existing book of business would make it alot easier for them to suceed. Pay is not very good .
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your employees better. Providing new employees with a existing book of business would make it alot easier for them to suceed
Pros
They are always hiring. You don't have to take work home with you.
Cons
Management speaks down to staff. It is a hard job with very high expectations set on the employees. It's overtly all about the money at Zones.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your employees like adults.
Pros
There are all sorts of ways to make money, if you pay close attention and keep a positive attitude.
Cons
The hours can be a challenge, since you have to be at work at 6 o'clock in the morning.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the strong communications. Thanks for the extra training--you can never know enough!
Pros
Overall one of the best reasons you could find in working at Zones is the friendship you develop with co-workers. Location also was a plus in being a quick commute.
Cons
One of the most noticeable downsides at Zones is the overall climate that is portrayed. There is a very churn and burn mentality among certain departments that really hurts overall moral. The company as a whole seems to be an out of school first job employer with the average person being there less than 3 years. You would constantly see or hear of people leaving or being let go. Benefits and perks are poor and or if any. Sales relay heavy on vendor incentives in making a paycheck but don't be surprised if someone else has their hands on your take home pay.
Advice to Senior Management
The advice I would give to senior management is start looking at retaining people that can get the company on par with its competition. Second make the company a place that people want to work for and not just a space on a resume. There was a huge moral problem in people wanting to leave.
Pros
If you are beginner in sales it is a nice place to learn. People are very nice overall, you can make good relations. Interesting to see how a small company is effective.
Cons
Benefits are very very poor, and you can’t grow. Management is dumb in a sense. You may see the CEO once a year if you are lucky. There is no work and life balance in company. No bonus, 1% increments, no reverse review.
Advice to Senior Management
Make work and life balance. There should be reverse review.
Pros
Great Support staff and co workers. there are a couple who are so knowledgable and I enjoyed working with.
Cons
Some managers don't pay attention to employees- favortism. They only pay attention to those who are already making money. They say that they want us to be successful - but don't have any support to show it
Advice to Senior Management
More Manager training is needed - especially for newer managers
Pros
The people were really great when I worked there - as far as other employees, not the management.
Cons
The management. The lack of appreciation for a job well done. The pay. The drama created by working in a small but diverse group of people (rumor mill).
Advice to Senior Management
Learn to value your people and work toward mutual respect.
Pros
I feel that if you work hard and have detication towards your career, there is great room for growth within Zones. I like that if you do work hard it dose show and you dont always need a reward to see that it has.
Cons
Some of The benifits mostly dental, it is pretty bad. Also the outsourcing that has been going on, and division'ss getting sourced out and good employees getting laid off. Also sometimes it seems some people are able to slip through the crack of things and not know what they are doing at all, but I believe that this can happen in all places of business.
Advice to Senior Management
To drive and have detication in the employee's and to listen to new ideas and implicate them.
