    Pros

great people to work. Great opportunities for recent college grads to learn the three major departments and a competitive salary. A 3.0 GPA and bachelors is required to qualify for the position. Applicants have the option to apply for an international position or one in the United States. Overall, I enjoyed my time working at Zurich N.A. and felt the work life balance was great and I was fortunate to have a great boss who did not micro manage, however, I can only speak to my former position during the time I was employed there. Changes may very well occurred, so I cannot speak to applicants looking to apply in 2015.

    Cons

workload is increasing, longer hours needed. Recruiters and talent accusation has a high turnover rate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Meetings can be shorter in length and still provide the same level of productivity, if not more when department works collectively to determine a plan to and execute.

    Pros

The company pays on time, has a very large customer base and Regional Vice Presidents are responsible for more than one line of business.

    Cons

Extreme levels of turf protection especially within their Risk Engineering group. This group will openly protest when they feel someone is taking work from them even if they don't have the skillsets. This Ivory Tower syndrome is detrimental to truly adding value to the client but this group is more concerned with their job?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Either decide to provide service, and if so, make it "World Class." If not, then utilize the AIG approach and eliminate the Risk Engineering group for all but due dilligence.

    Pros

Co-workers are wonderful, there is little to no corporate politics going on
    Lots of on-the-job training
Networking and volunteer opportunities are available in abundance
    Benefits package

    Cons

Some of the management team doesn't seem to respond well to employees advancing their careers by moving to other departments.
Salary - underpaid compared to some other insurance companies

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You may find that some departments are more open to career growth than others. Great job in keeping all employees aware of big-picture policies and goals!

    Pros

Diverse environment, work life balance, great people, good pay and bonuses, good training programs, good benefits as far as vacation/PTO/sick days. You never feel over worked.

    Cons

Very poor benefits as far as medical, eye and dental. Most of the open job opportunities are in Europe. Finally, the first company I've encountered where they don't require a pre-screening drug test (odd).

    Pros

Good pay, excellent 401k, decent staff members. Computers are constantly updated. Overall a decent place to work.

    Cons

To much middle management. Constantly understaffed whereby it is your responsibility to stay late to finish all of your work. Expect to work 50 hours a week. Politics plays a crucial role in order to get ahead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more management from within. The people with these so called high degrees are worthless.

    Pros

Very comfortable place to work with great people. Amazing global opportunities - spent several years abroad in addition to US opportunities. Decent benefits, fair pay.

    Cons

Very large, decision making can be a very bureaucratic process. Culture is relatively risk averse, making it hard to outperform peers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find opportunities to increase the speed of decision making. Middle management needs to become leaner.
