Fast-growth start-up in an emerging market

I have been working at Zyme Solutions full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Being the market leader in a fast emerging space makes for a fun and dynamic environment! Opportunity is yours for the taking, but you have to want it and be self-driven. The one thing that really stands out the most – the people! The executive leadership is down-to-earth and very approachable. They are always open to new ideas and actively soliciting feedback from all (and they genuinely want to hear your feedback!) And, the pay and benefits are competitive for a start-up.

    Cons

It’s a fast-past and dynamic environment and space and that means that you’ll have to be open to things changing, new ideas, minimal structure and some ambiguity. You also have to be self-motived and willing to take on more with less resources.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More frequent global communication

    Pros

Executive team is passionate about the company and the product. Environment is fast-paced and sometimes high pressure. The company is growing so lots of opportunities for growth if you know where to look.

    Cons

There is not a solid structure for career growth. One has to be very proactive in searching for ways to grow within the organization. Since the bulk of the engineering teams are in India, early am meetings and late pm meetings are the norm.

Great ideas, great customer loyalty and adoption, and good people. The company has reached a a tipping point in terms of new customers and has a bright future in channel data.

    Cons

There needs to be better adoption and execution of policy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire strong middle managers to enforce policy.

    Pros

Treats employees really well. Lots of birthday bashes, annual days, picnics, competitions, etc. So that way it is really enjoyable. Set defined processes. Liberty to come and go and have flexible hours.

    Cons

Company does not have an idea on how to make good products or whether customers will like them or not. So end up throwing away products and creating new ones. So even if you follow great processes or build great software, it doesn't mean anything at the end. Always hires people from outside instead of promoting within.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to listen to employees' complaints and try to do something about it. Stop being so cheap if people ask for raises. Try to figure out beforehand products to build.

    Cons

    Lot of thing...
worst working culture ever I've seen where there is lot of work along with loads of work pressure. Ladies employees are harassed by senior level employee no action on that person & least paid company. Not a good place to start the career.

I worked at Zyme Solutions full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Its a growing company and has great potential to expand.

    Cons

The company does not care about the employees. They just believe in getting as much work from employees as possible at the cost of their personal life and health. The systems used by the company are very non standard and hence it hampers the operations every time. This leads employees stressing and stretching almost every second day. The senior management of the company is very opportunist.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would suggest the Sr. Management to take care of their employees as they do of their clients. The fact is that if a company takes good care of their employees, their employees reciprocate the same care to the business of the Company.

    Pros

Cool market - which seems to be growing with new customers. The company has competition which seems good. The just got VC money which they are spending or investing to build out and mature the product to add to their services

    Cons

I checked around with some of the big customers they have, and they are not happy with how long it has takes to get implemented. They also wait for turn-around from corporate in India when they are in the U.S. and Europe. Their competion has taken several customers away from them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you are serious about being global and taking on your competition you need a bigger footprint in the U.S. not India, and let people in the regions like EMEA do their jobs and support the customers.
