I have been working at dB Wizards

    Pros

dB Wizards is a good stepping stone for IT professionals. It offers certification exams and excellent experience to IT professionals

    Cons

Salary is not very competitive. Work-life balance is not really felt not because it's the culture of the company but it's the nature of consulting.

I have been working at dB Wizards full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Somewhat flexible work hours. Company-endorsed training. Some people are good to work with.

    Cons

As previously mentioned by other reviewers, socializing is key, rather than your actual work performance. If they see you attending company events, you're good for promotion and, if you're a contract-based employee, regularization.

Performance reviews are based on this socializing aspect. If you don't socialize, do not expect anything good for your performance review. Protip: do *not* accept the contract for profit sharing if you don't like to socialize. If you're an extrovert, feel free.

If you are coming from a structured, organized environment: think twice. The HR personnel is borderline incompetent, who shares confidential employee information to her close friends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please. Take a look around. You don't always need extroverts to work in your company. Us introverts like quiet and stability and we can bring more value to you if you only dared to look into it. We don't want to go to your "company activities" because we don't like being around too many people. Allow us space to work with and you'll see our worth.

A good stepping stone. But no grounds for a good career

    Pros

There are lots of new Microsoft technologies available. This company, being a Gold certified partner, has prime access and copies of MS Certified trainings, and technologies. They also have their own set of instructors for internal and client trainings. It's a good company to start your career. A good "stepping stone" as one could say.

    Cons

Promotion is not based on the quality of work, but on how good you are at socializing. Billability is just a secondary criteria for promotion. What matters is how often you go out with your boss, praising and giving them a grand recognition for a mediocre job.

Opportunities are given to those who are close to the boss (in terms of socializing). The people with a more professional attitude towards their work are always the "fall guys", the people who gets to be blamed for something that didn't work out right.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I suggest that the top management re-assess and re-shuffle the management staff. The assessment of the consultants should not be based on billability, and the number of drinks they can afford during happy hours.

An evaluation committee, which should be a different entity, should be responsible in reviewing the performance of the consultants. Managers tend to be bias during evaluation especially if the consultants are their "close friends".

A good "first company in your career" job

    Pros

Latest with the current Microsoft technologies. Good training grounds for new graduates

    Cons

Career growth is some narrow and not flexible. Management decides what path you must take even though you are not good at it. Management is just concerned in achieving its quota.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice for the senior management is to have a process oriented approach in software development. Organization is key in achieving quality software and not just getting to the specified "sales quota". Building trust in the clients is very critical. And by delivering their needs, quality-wise, the company could gain its trust and may get further consulting recommendations from the client's client.

Employee assessment must not be majorily based on "billabilty" or the amount of money he/she contributes to the company. But mainly on his/her quality performance.
