I worked at dd's DISCOUNTS part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

They offered plenty of hours which ranged from 20-25 hrs a week. Also, each year the store is accident safe (which is wasn't) we got a pizza party, even if someone had just slid in pee and broke their neck. Lol Also, if you are a fast paced/hard worker, the job will be a perfect pick for you.

    Cons

Only offered part-time so they wouldn't hace to offer benifits. Management was rude, careless and messy. This store is mostly for the minorities && urban community.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Carefully select who you all hire as store managers. Please! Because all they're doing is hiring they're unexperienced friends.

  3. Unethical place to work. CEO was a womanizer and dated staff consistantly.

I have been working at dd's DISCOUNTS

    Pros

Great professional Environment, Fun, Co workers excellent.

    Cons

Very, Very low pay-Its fun at first for a start off job, I dont understand how they expect loyalty when Its a 7.25/hr job.Theres no way in hell you can live off 580/month.I been there 6months was looked over on all the promotions even though ive showed them time and time agian im trustworthy (take other employees shifts all the time they call in im there).I do everything im asked, employee of the month, employee of the week,#1 employee several times at my store still nothing. It feels like im working a for nothing sometimes im shown no appreciation for the work that I do at all.Even when i an asked to cover someone else shift or do there job while they do something else and im just get empty promises and whole lies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promotions should be based on work ethics and hard work not friendships.Thats not fair at all, How would you feel to work hard and then be taken for granted.

    Pros

Fun coworkers, good intro into retail industry, flexible hours, friendly management staff

I have been working at dd's DISCOUNTS

    Pros

40% discount three times a year, 20% discount regularly. 10% for some items.
Form solid bonds with coworkers through shared experiences.
Possibility of advancement within the company.

    Cons

Associates are promoted without receiving appropriate raises.
The list of 10% discount categories keeps growing. When I started, it was jewelry and fragrances. It has since expanded to electronics, some seasonal merchandise, and several Home Wares merchandise.
A large internal theft problem. Upper management is hard to reach and hard to trust. The alert line seems to do no good.
Scheduling policy makes it difficult to plan for events outside of work. Schedule comes out less than a week in advance, if policy is adhered to. Most employees only receive 8 - 15 hours with a hard limit of 25 hours a week. Extra hours are available only if you can be ready to work on a moment's notice.
Company expects exemplary customer service, professionalism, loyalty, and dedication for minimum wage pay.
Associates are placed in positions without proper training, then reprimanded for not following policy.
Store management abuses power: eats up most of payroll with unnecessary overtime and meal violations, disappears until paged, changes schedule to accommodate friends and favorites.
Hard physical labor with little to no reward.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate better with associates and management teams.
Investigate reported employees promptly and extensively.
Implement fairer business practices with better rewards, or lower expectations.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
