    Pros

You get 20% employee discount, and 40% off on certain week.

    Cons

management assigns you to any position, without proper training. the pay is minimum wage, and you do not receive consistent hours, no steady scheduled

I have been working at dd's DISCOUNTS

    Pros

Big box mentality when it comes to setup of store and perks for sales associates. All employees have the ability to present a reward "ACE" card to one another for positive behavior and work ethic

    Cons

Small chain of command holds back the open door policy. Stores can run on tighter budgets compared to big brother ROSS, which holds back part time hours and a competitive hourly pay. Neighboring companies such as McDonald's and Walmart have a much higher starting pay and more hours available, as well as schedule flexibility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Merge leadership and company into ROSS, and focus more heavily on family friendliness. Treat your employees right and control favoritism.

I worked at dd's DISCOUNTS full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The only good thing about this job is the 20% discount and the 40% discount about every 4 months. Plus, getting first dibs on all the good merchandise that comes in and the clearance items.

    Cons

Managers favored some employees. HR did nothing. The pay sucks! Basically, don't work here if you want to have a life outside of work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They should really evaluate their choices in managers. They should also pay more attention to the survey they have us take about the store and the managers. We give them a bad rating for a reason. They should speak to their employees to find out what really goes on at the store and they can help. Honestly, if it wasn't for the store manager, I would've loved to continue working here.

I worked at dd's DISCOUNTS full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, decent pay, fast-paced environment, somewhat of a work-life balance. Clear career path and training program.

    Cons

It became much harder to bonus than in the past, unless you were a part of the exonerated inner-circle... an incestuous and inpenitrable clique that conducts itself with catty, mean-girl antics. Sketchy behavior and gossip reigns so select girls can live by their own rules. Advancement had nothing to do with hard work, intelligence, or even personality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a closer look to identify the toxic, two-faced personalities and remove them. They are eroding morale and deatroying the happy atmosphere that dd's used to be.

I am sad that I had to leave. It really used to be a great place to go to every day.

    Pros

Good management, Great store, learning to keep up with fashion, learning to adapt to changes, great place to shop if you on a budget, and also meeting different people.

    Cons

Challenges would be the customers. Learning to deal with the upset customers and still be able to smile during your shift. Also, catching on to different types of fashion as merchandise comes in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember to always be positive, no matter what the situation may be.

Great opportunity for people looking to grow within a company, who doesn't mind hard work. you can advance quickly if you show you're a great worker.

    Cons

They want you to be completely focused on the store, make it you life. They will work with you but you wont get far if you have a life outside of the company.

    Pros

Easy job even though the pay is crap. There's a possibility (don't hold your breath) to move up within the company if you're there for years.

    Cons

The managers are never on the same page. They expect so much from you for so little pay. Customers are a pain to deal with because they want more discount on top of the items they're already getting at a discounted price, they constantly make a mess and act surprised when given their total amount due when purchasing merchandise. Like really?! Did you expect to pay $20.00 (not including tax) for the 50 items you just bought? Idiots. Minimum wage is basically SLAVE LABOR but a job is a job and if you need it then do it until something better comes along. The training sucks, you're basically sat in front of a slow computer to watch a video about things that you'll never remember and eventually will learn because you're being scolded for not knowing. You basically train yourself and can get by if you're fast and have a brain.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get on the same page! Anyone with managerial duties get paid fairly well compared to the minimum wage bullcrap regular/seasonal employees are paid. Stop expecting so much from your employees and biting off their heads because you are "stressed out" by the "higher ups". This company should follow the better companies that pay well and value their employees. An most of all, get your crap together with training your new and existing employees.
