    Pay, Lots of paid time off, Helping to get people through their problems was a rewarding feeling

    Cons

    A lot of negativity, You get yelled at on the phones/on emails a lot, Sometimes management did not seem to genuinely care about employees

    Crowded atmosphere and some employees were able to retain jobs after holiday season due to connections.

    Pros

    The insurance benefits
    Some verticals can work from home

    Cons

    Management is terrible
    They hire people to be supervisors who have never worked in a call center and have no clue
    The people in the trenches, on the phones, are the ones who keep this company in business. Yet they're the least well treated--pay is poor, no bonuses, always understaffed.
    They keep people who can't do the job, just to have a warm body to answer the phone.
    The longer you've been there, the more work and crap they pile on you with no pay increase.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Start getting rid of some of the slackers around there. You have good people who have hung in there for years, yet you don't recognize that. I've never been treated so poorly by a company. You have supervisors who don't know what they're doing and pass off their work onto their underlings to do, then take the credit themselves. This could be a decent company if management would wake up and start treating people like VALUED employees.

    Pros

    GSI Commerce is a young, vibrant company with a lot of potential and a lot of kinks to work out; that means lots of headaches, but lots of opportunities; that means lots of confusion, and lots of opportunity to be a top performer who provides direction and clarity. The people are great and the processes are improving. Still receives a middle of the road overall rating for the kinks yet to be worked out.

    Cons

    Despite plenty of communication tools, very poor, often barely understandable communications; mostly a reflection of management's poor to non-existent communication skills. Constant electronic communications and directives practically kills the human side of contact center work, leaving a floor of reps often uncertain about what to do or how to handle what should be routine situations. Despite the mess that comes out of this method, the relationships that develop make the atmosphere magnetic, and somewhat addictive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get on the floor more. Shift focus from numbers to people, provide world-class service, and prosper!
